Full android, with no google play / google play services, and it runs f-droid and all the apps fine. Haven’t missed any app on the google play store, or that require play services.
If google keeps on alienating people, people will move over to HarmonyOS, or a lot of the larger chinese companies making android devices will maintain their own AOSP fork, and google will be as irrelevant worldwide as apple is.

Dessalines@lemmy.mlOPto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy community feedback: Should we fetch and combine comments from cross-posts on the post screen? · Issue #3415 · LemmyNet/lemmy-uiEnglish3·1 天前Its not really combining post comments. It would just be displaying cross post comments in different sections at the bottom.
Dessalines@lemmy.mlOPto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy community feedback: Should we fetch and combine comments from cross-posts on the post screen? · Issue #3415 · LemmyNet/lemmy-uiEnglish2·1 天前No. Your comment would only go to that specific post you replied under.
Dessalines@lemmy.mlOPto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy community feedback: Should we fetch and combine comments from cross-posts on the post screen? · Issue #3415 · LemmyNet/lemmy-uiEnglish3·1 天前This is no different from viewing all, going to a federated community, and replying to comments there. This changes nothing about federation.
Dessalines@lemmy.mlOPto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmy community feedback: Should we fetch and combine comments from cross-posts on the post screen? · Issue #3415 · LemmyNet/lemmy-uiEnglish3·1 天前This doesn’t change anything about existing federation; you can even have crossposts in the same server or even the same community (like a historical link).
Dessalines@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What exactly is the situation of the Uyghur in China's Xinjiang since 2014 up until now?4·1 天前The BBC was full on pushing the propaganda that Iraq had WMDs, were they credible then?
Were they credible when pushing for every single US war and proxy war since?
Are they credible in their full support for Israel, and condemnation of the Palestinian resistance as terrorism?
Remember that time the BBC got caught editing photos of vloggers in China to make it look dystopian, then quietely edited the photos after getting caught?
Report those comments so we can ban them ASAP.
Go off rudyard kipling / winston churchill, you tell those barbarian middle-easterners and asians just how superior you are. /s
Yep that’s correct. Unfortunately a lot of apps start adding app-specific features (which is fine of course), but then don’t make issues upstream about the lemmy back-end supporting it everywhere. Kind of a conflict of interest where devs want you to use their apps with the most killer features, but don’t care about the rest of the eco-system or helping other apps at all.
No release date on 1.0 yet. The back-end is 99% ready, but we’re rapidly updating [lemmy-ui] to get it ready also. Then jerboa is next, then a longer period of testing and bug-fixing.
Its great seeing all the same arguments used to justify the US war on Iraq (where they murdered a million innocent people) again in 2025. Thanks, I needed to see this today. /s
This is already completed and will be included in the Lemmy 1.0 release.

Dessalines@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What exactly is the situation of the Uyghur in China's Xinjiang since 2014 up until now?42·1 天前BBC is not a credible news source, they’re an orientalist rag / tabloid journalism.
Yes the general rule with rust is that compile-time is slower than other languages, and run-time is faster.
It depends on the machine, for me a full compile of lemmy from scratch is ~4m. On a slower machine, it could be as long as 10m.

Dessalines@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Signal needs a phone number. Why are we dismissing this as privacy versus anonymity when governments are blocking the registration SMS?3·2 天前Even with full e2ee, they still have
- Your real identity (via phone numbers)
- The real identities of everyone you talk to
- Who you messaged, and when
With this its easy to build social networking graphs, and tag everyone implicated with a targeted account as an accomplice. Reading and trying to build meaning from the e2ee message content is almost less important than social graphs.
