    Me: gets home. “Giiiiiibsoooooon”. Silence.

    “Giiiibsoooooooon”.

    Faint meowing

    Look around

    Loud, sad meowing

    Open the blind

There’s Gibson outside looking very unhappy.

Rescue Gibson from the cruel outdoors. Is somehow both happy to be saved and annoyed I’m carrying her.

Once inside, hassles me for treats in .002 seconds

Note to self: replace the fly screen on the bathroom window.

The culprit in her natural habitat

Traffic over the westgate was horrible this evening. Three and a half hours to get home. I was very happy to finally get to the toilet after that. The nice bit was that I got to see all the sky pretty today - sunrise over fog, hot air balloons and the lights of Melbourne this morning, sunset with both pretty colours and the light illuminating clouds from below on the way home.

Movies/shows/music where someone involved is a shitty person but their art is great?

I’m watching Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and I almost don’t want to because Matthew Broderick hit and killed two people and only paid a $150 USD fine.

Arthur C Clarke’s science fiction. A damn fine scientist and science communicator - a thoroughly nasty human being. Love his books, but I don’t want EVER to meet him in real life.

Hard to watch anything with Kevin Spacey in it (especially because I find it weird his accusers died 👀), but I’ll still watch Se7en because I love Fincher films and that one is in my top 10.

I loathe Taylor Swift. I dislike the lyricism of her songs, they feel so “I’m 14 and this is deep”, she smears her exs in her music while having them sign NDAs, she’s dating a known moron and MAGA supporter, giving up the façade of being a feminist.

And she’s a billionaire. I think billionaires should either be forced to give up their wealth or face execution by stoning.

I don’t loathe Taylor Swift, I just find her lyrics very young teen and/or also mean spirited, they don’t appeal to me at all

on the positive side she’s a good philanthropist and a very good boss

Oprah, she was good in The Color Purple but she is a nut case that has done a lot of harm with dangerous new age ideas and backing pseudo doctors

Feeling better today. Back to the norm which works for me.

Have an appointment next week to review what’s happening with sleep and what can be done to deal with it.

The night I have a full nights sleep, I’ll be going out to celebrate the next day lol

Lots of running (driving) around for gifts and things today. Used to be so much more excited about hunting down truly local gifts from Melbourne but idk these days I haven’t got the energy.

Leo’s in Kew is apparently closing down - after the Heidelberg one was shuttered - so that’s a big loss of random imported fancy groceries. Gonna grab my Monsieur Truffe for the last time in a long time I guess…

sigh I came home for a pit stop that lasted 45 minutes but it’s time to get my arse in motion again before traffic becomes deathly

      Heard that :(

      Will become apartments I guess.

I will miss the in-house pizza things they do.

It makes sense to put apartments there but boy the traffic is going to be even more heinous. I guess they were planning on shutting the place down anyway, it’s so dingy and unrenovated, and all the other shops in that block have progressively closed down (first the vegetarian restaurant, then Laurent, and I suppose the $2 shop is next)

I hope this doesn’t mean the excellent (in terms of range) Kew Woolies doesn’t start enshittifying because they have less competition. And that toscanos can up their game.

Damn, we’re losing both Leo’s? When I lived in Heidelberg during the height of the pandemic I’d hit that place up all the time. The bottle shop was really good too

another day of resting so my back can get better , just to be safe, I really hate this 😔

in good news I have been reading books all week, I’ve been buying books the past few years I know I want to read so now I can just go to my home library. I’ve read some short books on Australian landscape painters ( am further motivated to start art classes ) and am also dipping into Past Imperfect, History According to the Movies, which is fun, interesting and informative.

and today the weather is beautiful and mild, the sun warm and the sea breeze smells nice 😊

The side of my back is hurting too. Not sure if it’s because I kept my right foot elevated too high in relation to my body.

I’m with you on the rest. !

        gentle hugs

any change can cause back pain, injury any where else on the body, new shoes, a new chair, bed, change in habits , anything that can cause a change in posture or gait

and now I am going to the sofa near the big windows to read a book and get some sun

Why is it that my security camera sometimes fails to miss things like a person walking up to the door but today it has notified me of a crow on the driveway?

The amount of loud and inconsiderate assholes in my co-working office today is unreal. Phone calls in open plan area instead of phone booths. A team of people I’ve never seen before sitting near me who think I want to hear their conversations and are not capable of using meeting rooms. When I arrived this morning, one of them was sitting at my desk using my monitor. I politely pointed out MY monitor and cables are not common property and asked them to move. Food crumbs left on my desk once they moved. I can barely concentrate even with headphones on.

I think it’s time to move somewhere else. I’m starting to not enjoy coming here, which defeats the purpose of paying for a membership.

Edit - add several people watching a video on a laptop on loudspeaker.

report them to the management, they tend to look very dimly on behaviour that drives other customers away

I have complained in the past about another disruptive group (not there today) and basically the staff there did nothing because the leader of the group is “difficult” to deal with. They kept saying they’d talk to them but never did. I suspect because the group brings in more $$ in membership fees that they didn’t want to annoy them. Plus the other people in the area where I sit that were annoyed by the group all left, so I was the lone complainer.

My membership works at other locations so I might go check another out and see if it’s less crazy. I don’t have to stay there.

Back at the doctors but at a new different clinic.

Decided to wear an Ugg boot on one foot but I’ll need to buy a new one as this one’s breaking apart.

I might be able to get away with wearing an Ugg boot to work.

Anyway more to see what information I can get and how to treat it as it wasn’t really given to me properly from the other clinic I went to which could have potentially saved the nail.

I think I’m consigned to losing it now.

Not the end of the world if you do. Just keep the nailbed clean and protected from bangs and bruises. Wide bandaids worked for me. Have lost a toenail before - it’s painful but the nail grows back just fine. You might need one of those foam “corn protectors” inside your socks to protect the toe from rubbing on your shoes.

        I’m back from the docs.

So apparently it’s healing well and looking good but the nail may or may not come off. Still a bit swollen though.

There was a differing opinion from doctor and nurse if the nail would come off.

Anyway it’s splinted up for a couple of days then I’ll just keep using band aids to make sure the nail doesn’t get caught on anything.

I also have another couple of days off so I’ll just rest up now.

Also as an unexpected bonus it was fully bulk billed at this place.

I’ll try not to worry too much now as that was my main concern. If it happens it happens.

nothing beats soft wide shoes when you have a foot injury

and I would consider using a cane for a week just to take a bit of weight off the foot when walking

I think it was more my fear of experiencing it for the first time and the unknown.

Anyway what’s done is done. Just have to take care of it as best I can and just wait to see if it fails off by itself or grows out and fixes itself.
