Good news, apparently Australia does not like politicians who align themselves with fascists

Bad news, not a minority government

Not looking good for the greens at all, I’m really surprised Melbourne has turned on them by the looks of it ?

Well to be fair I have felt for a while the greens are a bit lost. It’s a very interesting result - some naval gazing needed I think

I saved this from 5 months ago: https://aussie.zone/post/15598435/13409792

It’s not just the Israel/Palestine stance (which I don’t want to get into because I’ll get downvoted to heck) but a big part is housing, they were seen (rightly or wrongly) as delaying housing, as someone who voted for MMC to see him doing this killed me

There was other things but a big one that stands out to me was this:

The Reserve Bank should lower interest rates tomorrow and if they don’t, the Treasurer should use his existing powers to bring down interest rates

          https://greens.org.au/news/media-release/greens-wont-support-rba-reforms-until-labor-tells-bank-cut-rates

That is absolutely fucking insane, it might just be the most insane economics policy I’d ever seen, this is Donald Trump tier idiocy, it’s a similar line to wanting to get rid of the Fed Chair in America but even he backed off after realising how badly it would mess things up

The central bank is independent, if the government starts setting the rates then what is the point of the central bank?

There was loads of other things they did

          https://www.9news.com.au/national/adam-bandts-australian-flag-stunt-branded-as-virtue-signaling-and-highly-insulting/0f7564a9-9615-47a8-aec9-414380fa16b5

I just hope that the greens take some lessons from this election

I think it would have been the blocking of legislation last year, if anything.

But i have heard the seats they won last time were a bit of fluke narrow path to victory that would be hard to hold, but the ABC are saying they’re marginally increasing overall vote share 12.5% to 12.7%.

So maybe this will be a story about an aberration election, followed by a correction to their tradition of rising broad support across Australia.

If thats the case then they shouldn’t look at tonight’s outcome as a bad result, they gave the Majors their first genuine scare last election, with their vote share rising, this will make it more likely to happen in more diversified seats across the country. Thats a great future for the Greens, what they don’t want is to have a fate like the Nationals where they’re geographically cornered with no real avenue for growth as a Party.

On Sky, Andrew Bolt just blamed Elon Musk for Peter Dutton not winning on Donald Trump’s platform.

    I just can’t…

Some senator on abc called himself a reagan republican. The man should be arrested for treason.

I implore you, as an American who has witnessed the generational devastation that has resulted from the Reagan presidency, throw anyone who says that into the middle of the fucking Pacific.

      Mcgrath said that.

That was actually pretty wild for his side of politics to go that far in these times. His side of politics are fully dominated by MAGA-esque types.

He went further than what you say even, he identified himself with the Neo-libs (Reagan), and the Neo-Cons (Bush), pretty sure he even mentioned Nixon, but i can’t remember now.

Basically he identified himself with everyone from his side of Politics except the current ruling international faction, what i’ll call the Dickwads International Klan, or D.I.K.

Im glad im not the only one who noticed, very dissappointed that the panel ignored it. I thought him identifying himself as an american agent was a big fucking deal and it should have been highlighted and linked to the ass kicking.

Dutton was poison and deeply unpopular already in the Scomo years. Looks like people didn’t forget. I’m starting to feel some landslide vibes here early on.

A solid concession speech. Can’t imagine such a speech coming from any of the Liberal party’s leaders over the last decade.

Jeez, remember Malcolm Turnbull having a drunken tantrum on election night and threatening to send the AFP after the Labor party… That was his ACCEPTANCE speech.

Agreed. I’m not a fan of Dutton but his concession speech was mainly truth and from the heart. At least he’s somewhat graceful in defeat.
