That’s the most unsurprising news I’ve seen in a long time. Was there ever any universe where he wouldn’t?

The guy is fucking insufferable 😅

Is there any group of non-sycophants or people that aren’t financially dependent on Musk, who wouldn’t be pissed off with him around for very long?

he thinks he is daddy’s special boy. he also probably has the mindset “I made Trump win with money so everyone has to listen to me”. Well he is about to find out just how annoying people with his personality type are.

Yeah, but Trumps team might FAFO with “Now we have to keep the worlds richest man happy or he can turn the propaganda machine against us.”

Absolutely they will. The party will, from this point forward, live in perpetual fear of each member stabbing each other in the back because that’s who he hired - a bunch of people who do not keep their word and will sink anyone else for a buck.

It’s glorious tbh because like we saw during Trump’s last presidency they’re gonna have faster turnover than a mcdonalds

If they’re going by Putin’s playbook one of the tech billionaires is in for a show trial.

And if they’re going by Putin’s playbook by the letter… it’ll be Elon.

I don’t think they will, but it’s an option.

Trump has survived so much, so much that should have destroyed him, I just don’t believe Elon Musk would be the thing that did it. He’s not scared of Musk. They all know that Trump is basically Scandal proof and propaganda proof. There is nothing Elon Musk could say that would turn trumpers away from him. They would all turn on musk immediately. So naturally I really hope he fucking tries.

I guess if we live through this maybe one day we’ll get a ‘The Death of Stalin’ style black comedy about these maniacal imbeciles.

Giant Turd Poured Into A Suit And Shoes:

leaving for work in the morning “First day of work… See you later, babe! Can’t believe I’m gonna meet Elon Musk today!”

returning home “Holy shit! He’s such a moron! Can’t believe I’m gonna have to work with Elon Musk every day…”

When his new Nazi besties discard him in the same way that affluent, performatively eco-conscious liberals and sci-fi/“geek” culture fans who weren’t at least fascism-curious did, where’s he going to turn?

    My money’s on Scientology.

That’s not the worst idea, actually. If he’s going to grift anyone and contribute to the collapse of some institution for the sake of self-enrichment, it might as well be a cult instead of the public.

Standard sovereign citizen behaviour. If someone claims you owe them money, you plug your ears and run away yelling “lalalalalala”. This erases all debt.

Well, um … I … errrrr, hear me out. Trump doesn’t have to do ANYTHING he doesn’t want to just because someone gave him money. He doesn’t even really have to do anything because he wants money from anyone. He has no political career to protect and he has plenty of people who want to give him money willingly for practically nothing, just to be near him.

Now that last part is important because I’m not saying money won’t influence his decisions; only that the operating theory isn’t “I paid you now I own you!” it’s “I’ll give you more money if you do what I want.” And heck they don’t even have to give him money, they just have to flatter him and tell him he’s a big boy now!

So he’s really not indebted to anyone. What will they do? take the money back? Threaten him with what?

Blackmail / kompromat is an entirely different conversation, but let’s also be clear, “47 took money to do this thing” is not blackmail that will work. Nor would be the release of the pee pee tapes if they exist. At this point I’m really not sure what he actually could be blackmailed with other than the literal smoking gun that is big enough to get him impeached by a republican congress and thrown in jail. And I don’t know if that smoking gun exists.

tl;dr he’s worse than a lame duck because previous lame ducks cared about their legacy, their party, and their country. He cares about nothing but his own personal gain. He can’t be bought, be he sure as hell can be sold.

OK I heard you out and all that makes sense. A regular politician would be concerned about being re-elected, or the good of the party. Trump cares about neither.

“Indebted” here is likely meant in the informal sense. As in, Elon helped Trump, so now Trump has to help Elon. This isn’t legally binding.
