At least the lunch, warm cantine food at work is unfortunately not as common here as in many other places.

Norway is good if you get a job before moving. The weather, people, food and welcome is a bit cold, but life is good.
Great meme, and not a bad recommendation, but I find personal blocks to be a great tool myself. After spending a month blocking the most extreme people over there as they popped up in my feed, the remaining memes and commenters are quite nice.
This is literally the reason why I switched over to Debian. At least back then, snaps wouldn’t work if the home folders were not under /home/<username>, breaking all computers on the system I helped run.
Especially when the next couple of verses explains it.
I agree, let’s nuke southern Sweden into the sea before accepting them! (Assuming you are referring to the Norwayless euro coins)
It varies a bit from country to country, but the overall idea is that cooperation between strong national labor unions, employers and the government can lead to a solid wellfare state for all. Some parts of our workers rights are therefore kept in collective agreements instead of laws. This is of course not a perfect system, and we regularly have problems with locally sourced super-rich as well, but most people here agree it creates a better society, even for “regular” millionaires.
One of the cornerstones for this to work is strong nationwide unions to create a sane balance of power. Much of this current conflict could be solved if someone got through to Musk that the right to organize is holier to us in the nordics than gun rights are to Americans.
I actually have a friend that shows up to parties like this, with a pocket flask of water that he drinks from from time to time.
Thanks, it’s good with a reality check from time to time :)
I’ve never been overseas myself, but this post sent me down a weird rabbit hole. Do I really understand correctly, that pre-made whipped cream is a thing over there? How does it even keep?
As far as I know, but facts or statistics have never stopped this prediction from being made before 😂
Is it finally the year of the linux desktop?
I think fairphone has support for a foss os out of the box, other brands will take some more work and jailbreaking to get it working.
I don’t know the details, but if you get hired for a position here while living abroad, you can get a work visa as skilled labour. That can later be converted to permanent residence after living here for some number of years and passing some language and/or culture test (I think). I know several people who have moved here either through work or university, including from the US. Best of luck no matter where you end up.
