Former president Donald Trump intends to skip the first Republican presidential primary debate in Milwaukee on Wednesday and instead plans to post a prerecorded interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that will be released that night, according to a person briefed on the matter.

Trump advisers said the interview had already been recorded. It is not yet clear where the interview will appear. Carlson has started a show on X, formerly called Twitter, but Trump sees the platform as a rival to Truth Social, which he helped create.

He refused to sign the required agreement that everyone who participated in the debates will support the eventual nominee.

so, he isn’t really ‘skipping’ it… he’s not wanted there.

This is 100% his lawyers keeping him on a short leash.

lmao, called it! As soon as they announced the “interview”, I said

letting tv cameras you don’t control show the nation see how fat, sallow, and stressed you look, or hearing the dementia-and-pill addled word salad come out of your mouth.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they pre-recorded it, either.

Trump is use to being able to lie and not have people correct him. He also likes people agreeing with him.
Trump is terrified of Christie. I don’t think “fat” jabs from Trump with stop Christie.

A taped video. Where they have cut out the failures and bumblings that would expose Trump as the idiot that he is. Even with a friendly journalist like Tucker, who will only ask pre-approved questions. And hope that Trump remembers the correct answers his lawyers taught him, or they’ll have to retake the scene.

Way more interesting that whatever junk they broadcast would be the (complete) blooper wheel.

Trump knows Tucker will give him easier questions most likely.

I’d bet big money that Tucker will give him only the questions Trump has written for him to ask, AND that the wording and other details will make it very clear this is so. I’m looking forward to being amused by the clips from it that will show up the next day.

Q: Mr Trump you were the best president everyone says it, the other day someone came to me and said that Mr Trump was the best president, perfect President, just like his phonecalls were perfect - they tried to say it wasn’t a perfect phone call, crooked Hillary and sleepy Joe said it wasn’t perfect but it was a perfect phonecall, was it a perfect phone call? Everyone says it was perfect except sleepy Joe’s son Hunter’s laptop…

A: the election was stolen by very bad men, very bad, not as bad as hunter bidden and crooked Hillary but very bad…

I bet he can’t even answer his own questions

Yeah I’m going to need some proof of that. There’s no way he helped.
