Trump and his dictator friend in Venezuela are trying to manufacture an excuse for him to declare war and martial law to prevent him from being removed from power.
If there’s one thing the CIA loves to do, it’s to have the president announce that they’re about to start doing covert operations in some particular place. It’s their favorite thing.
(I would say that like a lot of the rest of the federal government they don’t even want to be doing whatever bullshit and dangerous thing Trump is ordering them to do for some reason. But it’s a socialist country in South America that’s allegedly threatened US interests in some vaguely specified way. I’m sure they can dig deep and find their motivation, somehow.)
