    You got masked men, one in street clothes, one in gear I can buy on Amazon, attempting a kidnapping in broad fucking daylight. FFS, some masked rando this week just pointed a pepper-ball gun at a woman in the car next to him! For filming him. (Note here: No court of law will expect an average civilian to know the difference between a pepper-ball gun and a “real” gun. In any case, “less lethal” rounds can still be lethal. You saw a GUN.)

    IANAL, but I know more than most about gun rights. I’m a liberal gun nut so it behooves me to understand these things best I can. I have watched hours of YouTube on various cases and how they played out.

    PRO TIP: Self-defense laws are far more restrictive than most on the left or right understand. The technicalities, state to state, are rough to internalize. Most depend on some notion of “reasonable threat”. What did you see, what did you feel, was happening in the moment?

    Remember that kid who shot the YouTube asshole in the mall? Everybody had an opinion when it happened. Here’s a respected GunTuber/lawyer’s brief on how and why he was found not guilty. You can get a taste of the complexity of state laws. EDIT: Watched that again. Yes James is cheesy, kinda his shtick, but he’s a real lawyer who defends real self-defense cases. Please give this a watch if you are armed. This was a close one, could have gone either way.

    I am not aware of any state in the Union that prohibits one from shooting an unidentified, no uniform, no police lights, masked man threatening another person with a gun.

    If you’re going to carry, you must read the actual law for your state. You must be aware of how cases in your state have played out. And you must be ready to die or end up in a concrete and steel box, for life, if you pull your weapon.

    Would you like to know more? Check Massad Ayoub on YouTube. He strikes me as conservative\non-MAGA, but he keeps his mouth fucking shut on politics, just the facts ma’am. He was a cop for 30-years and has 300+ court cases under his belt as an expert witness in self-defense shootings. You could do worse than learn from him.

      As an alternative for those that don’t want to step up their anti-fash self-defense SoP, may I suggest keeping an empty soda bottle (or similar capped container) handy somewhere in one’s vehicle?

      It takes a very short time indeed to fill said receptacle with your liquid of choice (water? wiper fluid? piss?) and apply it rapidly in volume to one or more chucklefucks’ masks to stifle the airflow through the fabric and allow all bystander reporters to easily & legally log that red-faced & breathless porkmeat when Y’all Queso pull their own masks down to keep from waterboarding themselves…

      (Note: You can dump, launch, or squeeze/squirt said liquid to achieve that effect, according to your container choice and personal preference for “safe distance” in the moment. Win. ✊🏼)

      Besides, if they’re fleeing from the sudden fear of being IDed by multiple phone cameras, they’re that much less likely to notice the potato in their vehicle’s exhaust, the slashed tires, the keyed markings in the paint that’ll link the vehicle to the scene, etc.
