        Right, but the article addresses that they should. It talks about the guys stockpiling hundreds of gallons of diesel for the impending societal collapse, figuring out ways to store said diesel for beyond a couple months (you need algaecide to keep algae from growing in it beyond that), and suggesting that they could actually become as self-reliant as they fancy themselves if they would get some solar panels and a battery or two, and even an F150 Lightning. Then they could collect power for decades and not worry about Mel Gibson showing up.

    Now you only need to figure out how to build renewable energy infrastructure without needing fossil fuels.

      Unless it costs more than non-renewable infrastructure it’s still a net win. Granted, we’re quite likely at the point where a net win isn’t enough.
