I’ve been browsing communities just to see what’s there and it seemed weird to only be able to sort them algorithmically.

i’m not sure if it’s just a piefed thing but you can click on all communities and click the community header to sort a->z or z->a
Yes, on piefed you can do that, it was the first thing I tried on Lemmy

You can search communities, but in the communities page, they’re only sorted by active users.
You can sort the same way posts get sorted.
