Every hide we went into today (5) at Welney Wetlands, had Barn Swallows nesting.
Enjoyed a day out with fellow birdman @stubacon@mastodonapp.uk today at a location near his patch. Pretty hot day with a few birds and Dragonflies in attendance.

@JimsPhotos@ohai.social @stubacon@mastodonapp.uk Same here! In the Steinhuder Meerbruchwiesen, a wetland in Germany, all hides have swallow nests. They hide in hides and I love it. 🥰

What are hides?

Hm! I wasn’t aware that swallows would nest that low, which is why I’ve not added any nesting boxes to our garden for them yet. But then again they are also not building nest there. (It’s an allotment, so mostly undisturbed)
@c0c0bird@chaos.social @stubacon@mastodonapp.uk@rlcw@ecoevo.social @c0c0bird@chaos.social @stubacon@mastodonapp.uk yeah, here in UK swallows are known as Barn Swallows, i guess due to their love of outbuildings. If you have a shed, leave a window removed, you’ll probably get swallow nesting if you have them in the area
@JimsPhotos@ohai.social @rlcw@ecoevo.social @stubacon@mastodonapp.uk That could be an option for the garage of @uhx@chaos.social 😉
