”Anything we do that is not optimizing getting people out of cars and getting them to a bus stop, or allowing them to walk from their neighborhood to a school with their kids, or ride, walk & roll around Portland— If we are not prioritizing that —then every other little piddly, marginal thing we do for the climate is much less important, because most of our emissions come from automobiles… and I think it’ll save us money in the long run.”

I don’t know about other areas, but my area absolutely needs better transit. I’m a half hour drive outside the metro area, and avoid going there as much as I can. My options for getting to the city are A) I drive and pray for parking, B) I drive and leave my car in a gravel unlit park-and-ride with zero security, or C) I spend all day waiting for the connecting bus into the city.

I don’t like driving, so instead of having a social life and contributing to the local economy, I use social media and order on the internet. 🙃
