Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford led the Dungeons & Dragons design team for decades at game publisher Wizards of the Coast. The two have been hired by Critical Role Productions’ game division Darrington Press.
On a scale of 0 (no clue what they are doing) to 10 (there is a master plan with a hundred steps), how strategic is Critical Role?
My guess would be around 3. This is mostly „seems like a cool idea, let’s do it“ without much of a plan.
I’m so conflicted about this and don’t know why. Maybe, hopefully, they’ll help improve Dagger Heart.
IMO when major designers like that leave WotC they end up doing some really cool stuff. I’d be optimistic.
Yeah, this is the first time in two decades they’ll be out from under the umbrella of corporate bs. I expect they’ll do something cool with it.
