Trump’s support for asbestos has been welcomed in Russia, a primary asbestos supplier to the US. In 2018, a Russian asbestos company began marketing asbestos with Trump’s face and a seal reading “Approved by Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States.”

      Fuck’s sake.

I mean, it’s been obvious for over a decade. When he came out warning about some obscure country that people should be wary of, and nobody (including him, to be clear) has ever heard of this “threatening” country or faction or whatever, with absolutely zero context or relevance to the US, and just happens to be in the crosshairs of Russia…. Yeah.

I am searching for this crazy-ass irrelevant unscripted tangent he went on, but when I search for “trump russian talking points opposing country”, even tossing “first term” in there, I am inundated with all of the recent talking points he has been making. This wasn’t Ukraine, by the way. I wish I remembered, but I have better things to do than dig through the historic tire fire that is this administration.

Americans love Russia because Russia told them they are fellow conservatives who also hate purple haired gay people. All while regulatory capturing their country and destroying them.

Americans are brain-cooked by 30 years of 24/7 Big News brainrot. the rest of the world has been aware of that since the mid 2000s. and its only multiplied since then.

“What is the absolute dumbest fucking thing we can do this afternoon? I know!”

Remember kids, congress could put a stop to this tonight. And by “this”, I mean the trump presidency. Just think about that for a while.

Russia is the world’s largest producer of asbestos, with an annual production of around 630,000 million metric tons in 2023.

I am required by my state to complete 2hrs of asbestos safety training a year, and i dont even work with it directly. It is crazy dangerous and my jaw is on the floor that this is real.

I did not have “asbestos returns” on my 2025 bingo card. What’s next, DDT?

To be clear here: This is reversing a ban on ONE type of asbestos that’s often used in automotive parts (such as brake pads). They’re not advocating for us to bring it back for things like loose fill insulation, building materials, etc.

Also, to be clear: It’s still stupid and likely a combination of Russia being the largest producer of Asbestos and/or Trump having an obsession with overturning Biden-era rulings.

Trump actually has a personal fascination with asbestos and thinks it’s a miracle material. He’s talked about it a lot in his speeches.

It does have some excellent use cases. Asbestos tile was probably everywhere you walked in school, is extremely durable, and perfectly safe (unless you cut it with a saw). My house is covered in asbestos siding and is basically unphased in appearance since it was installed in 1964 by the Texas sun.

However, any situation where it can cause it to be airborne, such as brake pads, insulation, etc. is no bueno. It’s a kind of incredible material IN VERY SPECIFIC USE CASES.

Like most materials science, there are tradeoffs. R22 was a great refrigerant compared to R410a or the newer R32 that required way less pressure to be effective, but it also burned holes in the atmosphere, hence it isn’t used anymore. Asbestos is an incredible material, but so is flurooantiminic acid and I wouldn’t want it anywhere near me.

Right, but Trump thinks it’s magic. I suspect he saw a demonstration of the material by some construction company (he is a real estate guy) and it blew his mind.

And now we get asbestos brake pads.

I guess other countries won’t need to defend themselves against the US in the future because Trump is actively trying to kill off more Americans than any other country could.

Invasions are probably still funded, though they may be driven by the masters in Russia and Israel. Also all damage to the environment hurts all of us. There is no planet b.

I wish all trump supporters would get cancer and die. Not /s.
