I used to love the eery atmosphere and immersiveness of the first installment, but I remember missing these aspects from DL 2 at launch day (pirated it), but I wanna buy it at the summer sale perhaps now.
If anyone played DL 2 recently, did the game get some more immersive improvements or perhaps are there mods that can make it have a more atmospheric feeling?
Yeah, for me it was worth it. I think that for most people it didn’t have the “new” factor that the originals had (who’d thunk it). But overall still a good game, well worth the play for me.
Hmm I never thought about the “new” factor. Good argument
Hard no.
We loved the first, but the second adds the stupid infection thing, and was in the “ok, playable” pile at the start, but all the glitches and bugs made us stop. Between day/night not working for non-hosts, buildings with huge map holes in them, and very poorly scripted quests we dropped it. The final straw was when we were doing side stuff, ignoring the main mission, and passed over a building that was part of a later stage in the main mission, causing us to softlock, then on restart being at the later step in the main mission. Just trash programming.
If you really want to play it, pirate it. Don’t give money for it.
Oh that does sound unconvenient. When did you play DL 2?
last played Jan 24
DL2 really loses the immersion and atmosphere that made the first soar.
The parkour and melee combat is improved from the first, but I know some people will be put off by the lack of guns though for me that was never an issue.
The new mechanic with the infection thing is annoying as hell.
It did get an update that added the original darkness of the first game but with the differences in gameplay it doesn’t really do much to improve the game.
I just remembered getting through a few days before I just realized I wasn’t enjoying the game.
In terms of darkness do you mean how the night system worked in DL 1 and how brutal the volatiles were?
Strictly a visual change, nothing more.
I personally love it, the parkour and combat have a lot of depth that the first one needed.
The story is pretty messy but I would still say it was better than the original’s, even if it is a low bar.
That sounds promising, and how about the immersiveness aspect? Are you content with that?
Really happy, they did a fantastic job making the world feel real and lived in.
The game does this thing I really like, where the survivors have turned the rooftops into gardens and farms since most zombies can’t reach them.
It really adds to the idea that they’ve adapted to the post-apocalyptic world after 20 years.
A lot of the quests actually touch on the logistics of the new world, with subjects like power, communication and resources being a main focus.
I did not like the faction thing but overall story is ok, first one was better though. Overall first game is a masterpiece for me but second is decent as well.
The story is pretty good.
I loved dying light 1 but for some reason 2 did not click with me
Wait for THE BEAST. the actual Dying Light 2
I enjoyed the first one a lot but the second one I couldn’t get into. The removal of guns had me bored after a while and it just wasnt the same. Apparently they have introduced guns now but I’m in no rush to check it out.
Agreed. The ray tracing effects are pretty but that’s about all the game has going for it.
If you want a good zombie game sequel, play Dead Island 2 instead. It’s slightly shorter than the average game but it’s much better than the original.
I’d say no.
Wait for Kyle to come back in new game.
It took me almost almost 10 years to buy fallout 4 (even after playing it for many thousands of hours), so I might be the wrong one to ask
Why bother answering so?
Just to make you angry. Don’t you feel special now?
