For generations, U.S. presidents have gone to great lengths to avoid potential conflicts of interest. When I was elected, I followed suit by placing my small business in a blind trust to assure our citizens that I would always put the country’s interests ahead of my own. It’s a vital presidential tradition. That’s why I find it a bit curious that our new commander-in-chief has been allowed to ignore it.

It was a different time, when leaders had principles, morals, and basic humanity. Nowadays we prefer soulless corrupt psychopaths to brutalise us while feathering their own nest.

I really dislike when people say “we”. I did not vote for the orange man.

Nixon did his damnedest, before winning the 1968 election, to prolong the Vietnam War in hopes of leveraging the conflict for political gain.

I can’t even comprehend being so ruthlessly evil that I would gladly fling tens of thousands of people into a wood chipper to boost my political career.

The 1960’s were rough for a lot of reasons but four of the highest profile assassinations in US (or even world) history occuring within five years has to be right at the top.

            John F. Kennedy in 1963,
            Malcolm X in 1965,
            Martin Luther King in 1968,
            Bobby Kennedy in 1968

It’s genuinely insane and I don’t know how every remotely level headed person in the US isn’t marching on Washington.

3000 miles is a long way to march, for starters.

It turns out (with the right optics) none of that stuff really matters. Attention/fame trump all.
