    Here’s how I see it:

    • There is going to be a confrontation between ICE as an agency and the state governments of at least some of the states. They are not planning on stopping what they’re doing, and public opinion is overwhelmingly against them already and is likely to continue to turn as things get worse.
    • The quality of the new recruits is going to be bad. Both in terms of their racism and propensity for violence, and in terms of their fighting skill and organization.
    • I think the overall outcome of massively expanding the force will be both a hastening of that confrontation (because you know the new recruits are going to be doing some horrifying things), and a worsening of how they do in it, if it turns physical (because they will basically be a bunch of cowardly idiots at heart).
    • There will be some additional suffering in the short term, as their ability to really fuck vulnerable people up at scale increases.
    • God help anyone who is in ICE custody. There are already concentration camp conditions with multiple detainees dying from neglect. Adding that much more racism, incompetence, and overcrowding to the mix is going to make things much much worse.
