There were options that were a lot, lot worse for the world right now. Not getting a Nazi pope is a huge win for progressives in the U.S. and Europe. I’m seeing some people on the net painting this as though queers lost our chance at having someone sympathetic in the papacy, when that just wasn’t seriously ever on the table.
For sure, there’s entirely too much negativity online lately, 100% behind being pleased when a decent thing happens, especially when a perfect thing absolutely wasn’t going to.
Put that rational nuance away, you’ll hurt someone with that.
