Sweet unmerciful fuck. This has blown up way beyond what it should have. A few things to shut up the pearl clutches:
-
Generally speaking people don’t have problems with business OWNERS. Sure you’re technically a CEO but that’s like asking why a tomato isn’t in a fruit salad.
-
No one is really operating under the MO of offing all CEOs everywhere just because they took the job.
-
You’re absolutely right, not all CEOs are bad. Some still look at their employees and see valued assets that they invest in and grow. And they’ll never make the news.
-
If you oversaw your company creating an algorithm that literally put weighted values to people’s lives and then denied them coverage that they were confirmed to be eligible for through the programs that they pay you money for while also when being pointed out that this algorithm inaccurately denies people their coverage and has caused actual documented deaths…then if you’re going to play at that table with people’s lives don’t look shocked when it’s your turn to ante up.
Someone really should make a film about hunting down the 1%. “Slaughter at The Wal-a-Go House”, where Wiff Mezos, Alan Masque, Ronald Krump, and others each suffer appropriate ends.
Ronald Krump
I almost choked on that one, good one. Meet the Krumps!
I would guess you wouldn’t be able to see it anywhere, like the gaza documentary that won the oscars.
Remember that access to entertainment is controlled by the same group of people the movie would speak against
So the purge, but what we’d all actually do?
Seems more like Saw, to me.
Which side are you on?
On the side against those that mistreat the public trust in either their business or administration.
You won’t do shit. Memes are fun to post and it’s fun to pretend that you’re dangerous, or brave or some kind of revolutionary but you personally won’t do anything other than post memes online.
For all the bolsterous talk on the internet, there hasn’t really been any serious action except maybe people buying fewer Teslas and even that’s mostly outside of the US. No other Luigis, no riots, nothing in the real world. Just barking at other dogs online safely behind a fence.
You ok man? You need someone to talk to?
Well, says you anyway.
You have committed a crime.
Tell how chatgpt 2.0 isn’t enough to replace these people, save a lot of money since they are overpaid & rid society from scumbags? You don’t need to wait for chatgpt 17 to replace everyone else.
Why do they all layoff workers who actually do the thing? Why do they always leave in layers of management? What’s up with return to office, why is zoom of all companies doing it?
It’s consulting companies like McKinsey. They go to the board and say “you need a strong CEO to boost stock price”. Then they go investment groups and say “look at this strong CEO, you should invest in this company”
The worst part is what McKinsey thinks makes for a “strong” CEO means they’re specialized at doing something, usually something evil
Decapitate the CEOs 🤡
I made one a little while back and posted it to Lemmy, mods nuked it. 🤷
Sure, but a corporation didn’t nuke it…
👍
I wish so hard thar it was photoshopped
Wait, it’s not?
Protected you from the upper right photo

Jesus fucking Christ. It’s like this is a game to them
We’ve gone from ‘let them eat cake’ to ‘let them eat memes.’
Fascists are and always have been little manchildren.
These people are living in their own world without consequences and spend most of their time shitting on the people who made them. They are LITERALLY recreating the conditions that led to the French revolution, while at the same time trying to copy dictators. They are so out of touch that they do not realize that guillotines still work fine in modern times.
It has gotten to the point where I kinda look forward to a civil war. The red hats are in dire need of contracting lead poisoning. It would suck for myself and others to risk our lives to better the world, but the alternative is being bullied by hateful and stupid people for the rest of our lives. Some of which are cut short at El Salvador for no good reason.
The MAGATs have chosen to draw blood, so it would only be proper to return the sentiment.
and they don’t even have to be sharp, just tall.
I am betting everything on them not being sharp nor particularly tall - just needs a few tries to work
🥹 you promise?
What’s wrong with the picture you edited for us?
Disturbingly stupid facial expression
deleted by creator
deleted by mod team.
No, I deleted it. I said that he wears hats like Elmer Fudd. Didn’t see the second hat until after I posted it because my phone screen is shit.
I was going to ask what expression causes those muscles to be so prominent, but the answer is literally staring me in the face.
No, no. Peter Theil was in line first.
He’s just wears hats on hats like a cringy Team Fortress character.
Its approved by the only people who matter (workers) :3
Upvoted… am I on a list now?
STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM
You interact with the fediverse.
You’re on at least 3 terrorist watchlists. Period.
Let me check…
Sorry to say, we found your name on the list of cool people! High five!
Not in the fediverse
There are admins/mods on the fediverse, even on Lemmy specifically, who do monitor voting actions and may respond with punitive actions such as bans.
But they don’t just auto-ban you for mentioning a Nintendo character
.world wanted to with Luigi. The admins wanted to crack down on it but the users said no.
That’s how I got banned. It was either that or I upvoted the wrong post or maybe posted a reply with an “Eat the rich” gif.
I mean if you want to move the goalposts to mean that specifically, then sure, to my knowledge you’d be correct so far. Doesn’t mean the medium is categorically immune from that happening though.
The fediverse is fundamentally more resistant to that type of shit tho, cuz mods and even instance owners can’t piss off too many users without the community migrating elsewhere. The split in the memes community between .ml and .world is a perfect example
See dubvee.org. They are like the ban equivalent of the Mormon church’s genealogy records.
You always been
One of the most unnecessary motherfuckers of all time
I’m glad that my natural pessimism stopped me from being disappointed that they weren’t any Luigi copycats on account of never expecting it in the first place.
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch
Someone want to explain why I should be murdered for running my own construction business?
EDIT: Well, judging by the hostility, it’s pretty clear this does apply even to small business owners - but I’m still waiting to hear an actual reason why.
Is your small construction business even publicly traded, or do you not understand what a CEO is?
Either way, you are clearly getting your panties in a bunch over nothing. Noone on this side is against small businesses.
Aww look he thinks it’s about him! So cute, poor little guy with a victim complex
Oh, honey. You’re not nearly a big enough fish to warrant being taken out. This is about the CEOs of large, harmful corporations that regularly fuck everyone over with pure greed, not the CEO of a random construction business.
I don’t see such nuance in any of this discussion.
do you regularly fuck over your employees/clientele?
Mhmm they haven’t replied. I guess they do. Equality for some is oppression for others.
I’m getting the vibes they do, given how defensive they are getting over a subject not even in their zip code.
It’s right there, you’re replying to the nuance, you dingus. He’s literally adding nuance and you reply “oh well I guess there’s no nuance then!” How stupid are you?
Are you a wizard?
Just because you like to put “CEO” on your LinkedIn doesn’t actually make you one being talked about. It’s talking about CEOs of large companies who are responsible for destroying countless lives.
When you start wielding wealth and resources as a weapon against humanity, then you are the problem. In a just society, these people would simply not exist, or at least, we’d have the means to quickly remove them from power if they somehow found a means to abuse society. However, we do not live in a just society, or one where justice is actually a guiding principle. We live in a capitalist society that enforces its will through violence, and only truly responds to violence. There is a very, very good reason that Luigi struck such a chord with so many people.
It doesn’t???
Then maybe the people spreading this meme should be a bit more specific with their messaging, because all I’m hearing is “CEO bad” - and yeah, I feel somewhat threatened by that, since technically it applies to me too, even though I don’t really consider myself one in practice.
If I got murdered and the headline read “CEO killed,” I can easily imagine the cheering in places like Lemmy, where nuance often seems to go out the window.
Bro, nuance is for serious discussion and Monty Python sketches, not cheap jokes like OP.
It’s funny that you’re complaining about a lack of nuance when being completely unable to discern it yourself based on your reaction to the meme.
What’s the nuance I’m supposedly missing here? I’ve criticized the “ACAB” slogan before and asked people directly if they truly mean every single cop without exception - and more than once, the answer has been yes. So excuse me if I’m not feeling especially charitable in how I interpret a meme that’s already completely unreasonable to begin with, no matter how you read it.
Victim harder in your edit. No one said they are coming after you. People have explicitly said billion dollar corporations.
The picture says “CEO” not “CEO of a billion dollar corporation” Nobody has explicitly said it’s about billion dollar corporations. Atleast not in this thread except for you right now.
I think maybe you need to understand nuance.
Are you even reading the replies to you?
“You’re not big enough to warrant…”
“Your cute little business…”
What part of these replies do you not comprehend?
You’re the one who said explicitly - I think you meant implicitly.
Jesus you must be insufferable as a boss.
“Well acccctuaallllly…”
If you can’t put two and two together with a meme posted online and what’s going on in the world you are living under a rock my dude and I question your IQ to run a business.
I’ve been nothing but polite and asked a simple, reasonable question. You, on the other hand, showed up with hostility, personal insults, and zero interest in an actual conversation. If calmly pointing out inconsistencies makes me “insufferable,” maybe that says more about you than it does about me.
And I told you. I showed you replies where people said you are not the problem, then you diverted to that pedantic BS. My “hostility” is because you are an obvious troll. When people respond to your comment you pivot somewhere else. But since it needs to be spelled out for you.
The public discourse for a while, seriously like 8 months now you are under a rock, has been an opposition to large corporations that are monopolies in their industries. They leave consumers with no options and force decisions on people ultimately harming them for greed, whether it be draining their paychecks or actually killing them. People believe, and this is a hot take, murder is bad. But there are no consequences for their actions. You can’t go somewhere else. They own everything. You can’t arrest them. They spend their money on buying the law aka lobbying. So people have resorted to the eye for an eye mentality. These memes are a play on that.
Now the meme itself is talking about a target season. And since you like everything to be explicit so much. Acccctuaallllly there is no mention of hurting anyone in this meme. A target could also be “egging their house, launching a protest on their front lawn”. Am I stupid enough to think that? Nah. But you’re the one who hates assuming things.
Lol. You think it’s about you and your cute little “business”.
And why are you being so dismissive of my “business” then if it’s not even about me? Seriously. Please explain yourself.
Because you’re not the problem so you’re not the target. The world isn’t always about you.
If I’m not the problem, then why are you here insulting me and my “cute little business” instead of actually answering my question?
Because you’re a big boy and don’t need to be pandered to.
If you’re not using your company to kill Americans for shareholder profit, why would you think it’s about you?
Because you come off as someone who thinks the world is about them. So they are being insulting at the same time explaining you are not the problem.
This whole thread got “You’re so vain” running through my head.
If it’s your business, change your title to something other than CEO. Problem solved!
I’m looking for answers, not solutions.
So you’re not actually worried that people want to harm you for being a CEO. There’s the answer.
If you’re so reluctant to actually try and answer the straightforward question I asked, then why bother replying at all? What are you trying to achieve with these evasive, facetious responses?
Just having fun taunting sea lions.
Ha! There’s a name for this? This hits the nail on the head.
I’m from Reddit, and I approve this meme.
Stop claiming that shit, friend. This is a better place, free from shit mods and rampant bots
so we think
Yeah there are some power-trippers and we might have to replace the internet at some point like in cyberpunk, cant lie though, I’d definitely be worse off without Lemmy.
Lemmy has some of the most unhinged stuff I’ve seen online
Someone hasn’t been to 4chan (rip)
unhinged
Weird way to write based.
and that’s what makes this place great
What, far left extremism?
In the age of polarization we don’t need more extremism on either side
What’s extreme is what the CEO’s of many major corporations have done to this country. This is just a joke with cartoons, it harms nothing. Calling this extreme is absolutely absurd.
Oh no, ‘extremeism’ like demanding basic human rights, public services, and ending the wealth disparity caused by capitalism. How scary. Definitely as equally scary as far right extremism that’s about genocide, fascism, and imperialism. What an enlightened centrist take
I don’t see anything extremist about this.
How so?
making and up voting memes about murder
They live under a rock. At the end of a cul-de-sac. In Salt Lake.
Not a pineapple under the sea?
No. SLC zoning laws don’t allow for fruity domeciles, in every sense of the word.
As long as there’s at least one person calling it out in the comments, I still have a bit of faith left in humanity. But I agree - it’s bizarre how little self-awareness there is sometimes. Nobody actually wants to live in the kind of world I see people advocating for here on a daily basis - not even the ones advocating for it.
I’ve never seen a platform that hates CEOs more than Lemmy. I get not liking the people who seem to completely abuse the system but wanting to murder all CEOs seems like a questionable take. It us sad that there are only like three people here who think murder is problematic.
Judging by the hostility, it seems that questioning these murderous fantasies is treated as just as unforgivable as being a CEO.
