Stupid people like famous stupid people because they’re “just like us,” the same way bigots like famous bigots because they “tell it like it is.”
Every time I see this, I think that has to be San Francisco. Then, I realize, it could also be LA.
If I had my way, “stupid people” would be so many twitch streamers, YouTubers, tiktokers.
But no those people make more money than I do in a week of streaming.
I don’t have a problem with celebrities who are lacking intelligence, as their job is to entertain not teach - however here is where my issue begins, though it’s more of a criticism beyond celebs themselves.
I mean, these people are primarily entertainers and should be treated as such, yet too many of them try to reach for things they have no reason to involve themselves in. If they’re not professionals within the fields, their opinions should matter as much as any random person yet they’re constantly given a spotlight on issues pertaining to health (mental and physical), Science, History, Politics, etc.News publications are notoriously guilty of this.

“Got it!” - then instantly proceed to stumble all over each other to make more and more stupid people more and more famouser…! …famousest! Every time one makes a meme of those assholes, it creates more goddamned noise.
Maybe these stupid famous people are a reflection, or the very essence itself, of those who make them famous, who feed the goddamned algorithm with content and/or morbid attention, while huffing and puffing that they are so above it all, “I’m the pure one - YOU’RE the contaminated one!”
It’s not unlike the waterless toilet we are in now, because this buzzing noise fed by bad-faith actors who know which buttons to push and how, distorts reality and we get enough non-voting idiots, not too far removed from medieval peasants, chanting bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe.
But I just like the famous idiots ironically!
You can’t just “tell” stupid people not to do stupid shit. It doesn’t work that way. They’re not ignorant, they’re stupid.
But then stupid people would actually have to learn something in order to make a living. They don’t like that idea.
