I hate the moronic way in which Trump speaks. It’s such a waste of everyone’s time and energy.

Nobody actually listens to Trump speak because our brain cells don’t recover as fast as they die off trying to make sense of what comes out of his fat mouth.

I hate it almost as much as I hate Dr. Brain Worm speak. RFK Jr always sounds like he’s got the world’s collective phlegm stuck in his throat when he speaks.

Truth is we want to believe “nobody” listens to him, a lot of people listen to him. That’s why we are where we are. I saw a group of 60-70 year olds protesting his bullshit by my house today (small mountain town) and it was awesome. Granted, I live in California but it’s a majority red area and I think even those that did listen to him are starting to actually hear him. And they’re not ok with it, he won’t succeed ultimately. There’s hope here yet.

I’m sure some people do, but not most.

I unfortunately deal with a lot of Trumpers due to my job and they are never able to quote him or will say shit like:

        “HE NEVER SAID THAT”

And you show them a video, news articles, etc. and they say:

“THAT IS FAKE NEWS TRYING TO MAKE HIM LOOK BAD!”

And that’s what I mean by nobody actually listens to him.

They listen to what Fox News, Joe Rogan, and other sycophants tell them that Trump said.

RFK has a disease, he can’t help that he speaks the way he does. I know the fascists wouldn’t cut anyone slack over it, but I personally hate dunking on people about stuff they can’t change about themselves-- it’s part of why I’m not a fascist. Tbh, I hate hearing him speak, but it’s because it sounds like it’s tremendously painful for him to talk, and I wish he would stop putting himself in these situations that require him to speak. Apart from that, I also wish he would shut the fuck up and go find a field and stand in it.

I have a disease as well, and RFK Jr wants to send me to a labor camp for it because he believes my disease is something I am choosing to have despite its painful disadvantages.

        Thus, I disagree.

We all need to dunk on him as much as possible for the disease he has that he cannot change because vicious mockery is the only thing that cows narcissists.

I mean, just look at Elon after he got bullied online playing PoE. Their own behavior turned against them is the only thing they understand.

The world listens to him. Listens to him more than anyone else in the entire world. He’s the most listened to in the entire world. By the way he’s a rapist, pedophile, and convicted felon but you wouldn’t know that just by looking at him. You just wouldn’t know that. But it’s true.

Remember not a lot of the world speaks English. When I talked to some of my Japanese friends and language exchange partners prior to this election they weren’t sure about trump but typically described him as someone who was a powerful leader

Also keep in mind that they generally are super polite and in that “if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all” space. Except for a small handful I’m very close with even now they won’t say much bad, will just ask “how are things in America”, “what’s the perception of him in America”, etc and will artfully dodge the question of “what’s the perception of him in Japan. Except for my one friend who’s more outspoken and we are a bit closer, who is like “end the trade alliance and force all the military bases to close!”

But to my original point much of his crass and idiotic behavior doesn’t necessarily translate well and usually doesn’t make the news on NHK. It’s kind of similar to how American news headlines do him so many favors. If you only know trump through Washington post, NYT, etc headlines he sounds so much more competent than he is. But if watch him speak you realize he is just so goddamn stupid

There are 1.5 billion English speakers. It is the most spoken language in the world

So yes, lots of people speak English

Okay? How is that relevant. I was making a point that there are many people who don’t speak English.

While what you say is objectively true what I say is also true. Further, the number of people who do not speak English (roughly 6.5 billion) dwarf the number who do. America and the English language do not define the entire world.

Further, the local English speaker is not always proficient enough to articulate the meaning of what is being said into the local tongue. Even for someone who is a fantastic translator interpreting someone like trump, who constantly utilizes colloquial speech and idioms, is a goddamn nightmare.

The user you initially replied to was being facetious.

They were imitating the way that Trump talks about himself.

You inferred that his words, because they were in English, do not reach everyone. They do.

Those 1.6 billion includes many who disseminate his words in their own native tongue

It’s common knowledge that for propaganda of any sort one needs those who speak local dialects directly employed. And there are people who target every word of his into the local dialects of whoever they want to hear the message. That’s basic marketing.

The curse of the interconnected world is that everyone can be magnified everywhere instantly. Even megalomaniacal egomaniacs.

So while , sure you’re technically correct, it’s also incorrect to assume that because most of the world doesn’t speak English as a primary language , that his words aren’t delivered to their ears. Whatever he wants heard by everyone, is heard by everyone.

If my job was translating what Trump says into another language, I would just quit my job because it would give me a stroke trying to make sense of his verbal diarrhea.

Because interpreting is not just translating the words-- the words themselves often don’t exist in other languages.

For example, the word “nice” does not exist in Spanish, so you have to translate what the speaker is trying to convey by contextualizing the word and matching it with words in Spanish that mean convey that same meaning.

Trump just speaks his train of thought, and that mofo is completely detached from reality.

His point was that the translations are filtered and refined by media, particularly in foreign languages.

I’m American but I did not grow up in the USA.

When I moved to the USA, I was like “Wow, this country is abusive and exploitative AF.”

Half of Americans didn’t vote for Trump. The problem is that most Americans did not even bother to vote.

American elections are tilted towards Republicans because they gerrymandered districts, made voting harder by removing voting places to create long waiting lines. You also have to take the day off work to go vote and a lot of people cannot afford to do that. They also made it illegal to give voters waiting any water. It’s all fucking absurd.

Young Americans are victims of a system created to exclude them from being represented by their government.

And what is happening to Americans is happening to all other countries as well, including yours.

That thing with taking the day off to go vote is incredible. They could put that day on a weekend, like we do in my country, and I assume most countries.

I dont know, America is intentionally going for being a very bad country to live in unless you are rich.

There’s been efforts to make voting day a paid federal holiday, but alas-- that would turn the USA liberal and the powers that be cannot have that.

But their time is coming to an end and they know it, which is why they are going crazy now.

Lots of people listen to Trump. I was at a mall and an owner of the jewelry store was loudly listening to Trump. Last summer he was stomping out bugs that have taken over my area and leaving their carcasses for everyone to see. I specifically hope he gets what he voted for.
