We live in the dumbest times.
So on top of the declining economy, we’re gonna drastically reduce our capacity to ship goods from place to place. He’s a fucking genius. /s
It’s the saddest kind of funny that you need to meet a multitude more requirements to be a truck driver than to be president.
You know what really aggravazes me? Is dem immigants. They want all the benefits of livin’ in Springfield, but they ain’t even bother to learn themselves the language.
The good news is that the shutdown in Chinese container shipping will give them plenty of time to grind through Duolingo
So let me see if I got this correct here now…
The immigrants are taking our jobs.
Get rid of illegal immigrants and people assumed to be illegal immigrants.
Lose field workers.
Get rid of non English speakers
Lose transport and logistics team.
???
Profit!..??
I think the next part is that citizens would take those jobs instead of the immigrants, but we won’t work for those wages and the companies are just fine not hiring more people. So, it’s really a lose-lose thing.
Tramp: You must have good English!
99.99999999% of Tramp voters: ineligible to work as truck drivers
Who would have guess that my English degree will be a prerequisite to become a truck driver.
*guessed

If there’s one thing I know about English majors, it’s that they enjoy all words jokes.
We’re also the least fussy about language use, which is why the highly upvoted prescritivist pedantry I run across around lemmy occasionally is so jarring
ed: not talking about your comment here
*prescriptivist
It’s a joke, entirely about the pedantry you aptly observe.
They’ll have you writing poems to be a ditch digger.
Not if they’re autistic.
The secret ingredient is racism
I had business with a guy from Texas once. Definitely not an immigrant, but nth generation American. I am not sure if what he spoke would qualify as “English” even in the remotest sense. I had to resort to get his words in writing in order to understand them.
