Summary

Protesters at a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee town hall in Idaho were forcibly removed after criticizing Trump policies, including the Elon Musk-led DOGE.

Event organizers dismissed their concerns, with one emcee saying, “Your voice is meaningless.”

Similar protests occurred in Georgia and Oklahoma, where Republicans faced criticism over mass layoffs.

Lawsuits have been filed against the administration over the legality of these dismissals.

“See, in the good old days this doesn’t happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. And when they protested once, you know, they would not do it again so easily. But today they walk in and they put their hand up and they put the wrong finger in the air at everybody and they get away with murder because we’ve become weak, we’ve become weak." - Trump

Sounds like what they’re saying is that the normal methods of voicing dissatisfaction are not going to be effective, and we need to shift focus to other, more extreme, extrajudicial solutions, instead?

These people just don’t know when to quit. We used to show up to the owner classes house in the middle of the night and bludgeon them to death with an angry mob. They seem to forget this was the deal for people to stop doing that.

Bejarana then defended the removal, accusing protesters of attempting to “filibuster” the event as he continued talking about DOGE. “We’ve got to be a little aggressive with some of these folks here,” he said. “Your voice is meaningless right now.…I can talk over all of you.”

Newsweek has reached out to Bejarana via for comment on Sunday.

The confrontational approach drew criticism from many in attendance. “Is this a town hall or a lecture?” one woman yelled amid the uproar, according to Coeur d’Alene Press.

While it’s unclear what exactly the protesters were opposing, KCRCC has since posted a statement to Facebook explaining that Borrenpohl, who allegedly belongs to Save NIC, a social welfare nonprofit organization, “alongside at least five other recognized activists from local progressive circles—including two fellow ‘Save NIC’ members—shouted down legislators with insults like ‘bigots’ and ‘liars’ throughout the meeting, drowning out attempts at dialogue.”

    “attempts at dialogue”. Right.

People who protested Democrats are now telling protesters their protests are meaningless?

Oh wow, the predictable thing is happening? But I was told the Republican voters just needed to get angry and call their representatives! Don’t worry guys, I’m sure the next plan to electorally save ourselves from fascism will work!

So let me get this straight

This woman and group, who are clearly against Trump, and obviously not Republicans , but highly probably are Democrats, are protesting against “something”, which as per the article is “still unclear”

But let’s say they are protesting against Trump EOs and against Elon for the sake of argument

So first thing, the title and framing of this post makes it looks like it is “Republicans” protesting against Trump, when it is clearly not the case

Second, what were they expecting? Protesting now, specifically after the elections are done and none of their executive actions has had any real world effect is meaningless, at least for them.

In their eyes, and particularly on the eyes of the law, the victory gives them every right to dismiss their opposition’s concerns.

After all they are their opposition. They certainly don’t expect any leeway from them

Demoralizing? Sure! Were they expecting to be cheered on by the guy they are protesting against? Poppycock!

I agree with all except this part. Many people have lost their jobs already.
