The rural South gobbles that shit up.

I’ve literally talked to doctors and nurses here who believe this nonsense. Not just a few. It’s a very common sentiment.

What do you do when you don’t feel like you’re safe in their hands? Get into herbal/folk/witchcraft remedies?

While fermented garlic and honey are actually pretty good for you, (probiotics from fermentation, certain anti-microbial properties of both garlic and honey, etc), it’s not actual medicine.

Home remedies are great at making you feel a bit better while your body fights something off but they’re no substitute for medicine to actually help your body fight off your infection.

I’ll swear by hot tea, honey, lemon with a splash of some kind of liquor and some chicken noodle soup when dealing with a sore throat but I’m also taking cough medicine to actually manage the symptoms in addition to those home remedies.

        probiotics from fermentation

        anti-microbial properties

These two things aren’t really compatible with each other.
