Welcome to the Vegan Theory Club Weekly Megathread!
Question of the week:
What are you doing for the holidays?
Feel free to talk about anything, whether it’s vegan-related or not. This is a chill space for connecting, sharing ideas, and supporting each other.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone’s up to!
Addictive as hell if pack opening and TCGs are up your alley. Addictive as hell if pokemon is something you’ve enjoyed in the past. Consider yourself warned lol.
They give you a couple weeks of their premium pass thing to start so the progress hasn’t felt limiting at all. I’ve kept strictly to the single player battling so far so I don’t have an opinion outside of that yet. So far the battles feel tuned pretty well. You can stumble your way to victory early on if you need time to learn but there are plenty of challenges too. Each battle has 4 win criteria that are optional challenges and I enjoy completing all of them. I have very little criticism after a couple days of playing.
But, it’s also a mobile game in 2024. There are a number of micro transaction opportunities in the shop and they definitely want you to spend money to get things faster. Nothing overly intrusive or annoying so far and everything gameplay related can be obtained from cash-free traditional means. There appear to be some protections in place to limit how much impact whales can have on the game as well.
There isn’t a way to directly trade cash for cards but there are ways to exchange resources that you buy with cash for items that reduce the cool down time on pack opening. TLDR it’s very difficult and expensive to try and brute force your way to a single card let alone a whole deck. Considering the format I don’t think it’s a bad compromise.
I like it enough that I spun up a community for it on WG.

I should probably stay away then, pokeclicker has made me vulnerable to Pokemon related dopamine saturation
