Most of the fruits and vegetables are Bioland certified, and most of them are from a local farm near Heidelberg. The melon and obviously the bananas are not from Germany.
The Bread is organic whole-grain spelt bread from a local bakery. The grains are probably also local.
The oat milk is from organic locally (Baden-Württemberg) sourced and produced oats.
isn’t 100euro to much for this?
That is way too much, organic or not. I’m aware grocery pricing has gone up, but 100 bucks is a total ripoff.
The fuck did you just post, is that brand advertising here?
Nope, no brand advertising, which brand do you think am I advertising?
There are some brands visible on the picture, and I added information in the description about the value (local [climate impact] and organic [environmental impact]) of some products to justify the high price.
Bioland is a certification, much like EU Organic Certification, but with much higher standards (and no bullshit like burying cow horns filled with poop because some dude 100 years ago said so, like the other popular German higher standard organic certification Demeter does).
But to be fair, in terms of animal wellbeing Demeter is absolutely fucking great. If there wouldn’t be the thing with weird ideology.
I don’t eat animal products so IDK, but Bioland has stricter animal wellbeing guidelines too. According to this website (de), they seem to be not as far as Demeter in some aspects, tho. E.g. 6000 vs 3000 Hens per building.
Way, way too much. 100 euros buys you three to four bags of food from LIDL.
With grocery prices like this it’s getting tempting to give up my career in IT and take up subsistence farming.
Like the dev of neofetch all over again
That is an insane amount for this little food.
Would you mind posting the receipt for this? I’m curious how much each item was.
I get like 75ct discount in total because I am there frequently, so don’t bother reading every Rabatt. There is also one popsicle on there, which I didn’t include in the 97€ because I ate it in front of the store.
In addition to this, I also included (bought from other stores):
- Bread: 6,60€
- Oat milk: 3x2,79€
- Gherkins: 6,99€ (i should stop buying these, they are wayy overpriced)
Bread: 6,60€
This bad looking bread cost 6€ ?!? I can buy 6 baguettes for this price.
But why would I want baguettes? It’s just very long white bread. No nutrients and barely any tase.
BAGUETTE, BARELY ANY TASTE ???
I’m 100%here for this outrage over bread
While baguette can also be whole-grain, I don’t think whole-grain baguette costs 1€ a piece. White bread tastes terrible.
Have you ever eaten german whole-grain spelt or rye bread? TBF, I haven’t eaten French baguette either.
I think you are understimating the quantities of different bread you can find in our boulangerie.
There is about 40k boulangeries in France.
Whole-grain bread big advantage is a longer conservation, it doesn’t taste like paper even a week after being bought unlike a baguette, but it’s still best when fresh. The whole grain bread cost 2.3€ here.I don’t think whole-grain baguette costs 1€ a piece.
Whole-grain is cheaper than white bread, white bread was actually a luxury before moderns time.
White bread tastes terrible.
Are you comparing a baguette with a regular white bread ?
Have you ever eaten german whole-grain spelt or rye bread? TBF, I haven’t eaten French baguette either.
Have you eaten something else than german bread ?
It’s from a shop in Germany and the product is called Black Forest Tofu, shouldn’t it be Schwarzwald Tofu?
I thought Taifun was a German company as well.
Hard to tell value proposition. How many adults will this feed for how many meals?
Only me and, IDK, 2 Weeks? But I also go to the Mensa and will also probably buy another bread next week.
There’s no way you’ll live 2 weeks of that and not be on a massive calorie deficit.
As he mentioned. He also goes to a Mensa(maybe in an University), where you can usually eat relatively cheap.
Check their dumpster first next time. Or just start a garden.
Organic products make no sense. It’s a waste of recources and land and the end product is totally overpriced.
Sir, may I introduce you to the importance of soil health and biodiversity?
Also, its still not entirely clear how healthy it is to eat pesticides(AFAIK). Yes, it is less efficient, but that’s the only fiel it falls behind non organic farming.
Call me crazy, but I don’t want PFAS and cancerous Monsanto chems in my food…
Just because its organic doesn’t mean it isn’t contaminated by these chemicals that are literally everywhere now
