A man who taped a sinister note to a Chinese ex-official’s door in New Jersey was sentenced Wednesday to 16 months in prison. He was convicted of participating in what U.S. authorities called a Beijing-driven pressure campaign targeting expatriates.

      To quash dissent. India is extremely concerned about Sihk separatists and murders them abroad to send a clear message that if you go against the government there’s no place you’ll be safe. For China it’s less specific but to encourage people to conform to social norms or you’ll be harassed no matter where you go.
