i met my boyfriend 7 months ago online and he’s american and well i really love him, i’m from another country and while i do want to marry him someday i know i have to see him irl first for a few years, so, if i ever marry him (an american) in my country, what happens?? i know i do not get a green card instantly but, like, our marriage gets registered in my country, does it get registered in the u.s too?? i am just curious, thanks!!

If you get married outside the US you go to the embassy to register it, and then again if there is a baby born after-they will get a ‘report of birth abroad’ which will be their birth certificate.

Lol, we never saw my wife’s green card. When we moved back to the US we had an appointment about 2 years later with social security, and at that time she was 7mo pregnant with our daughter…they just said it was ‘somewhere in Philadelphia’ and not to worry about it.

Another tidbit, 72hrs after we married I became a citizen of her county, and technically still am, but she became persona non grata and country less just before she became a US citizen. Mostly due to her work with Amnesty international and not a big fan of fascism.
