Uh… Am I the only one worried that proto-slurs are being upvoted on the Fediverse?

I haven’t really seen it on Lemmy as much, but Kamala losing to Trump has led to a lot of incredibly racist discussions on Reddit and Twitter. There was a very popular reddit thread the other day discussing how to best get Hispanics deported to punish them for voting for trump.

Feels like there’s an increasingly strong idea that racism is ok as long as it’s targeting at undesirable people, as if that’s a new concept and isn’t how racism has always been justified.

Body shaming people is also very common and seems to be even accepted on lemmy. Look “loud driver” = “small dick” and watch the upvotes flow.

To racist it’s always justified and their target deserves it. It has never been any other way. Same with any other kinda hate and dismissal. They will always deserve it. I do a shit take, anybody who thinks it shit think I deserve the hate and ridicule. The difference is just that black man can’t stop being black, but an idiot can recant their words. The logic behind them is always the same.
Aren’t there also fanatical kamala supporters that unironically think that Kamala was the only way and anybody who thinks otherwise at least deserves to be called an idiot or maybe even deported or other things done to them. That is what it does when one falls into the idea that their deeply held subjective worldview is actually the objective truth, especially things that are fundamentally passionate and subjective like politics. From there it’s not a very long leap to think that if you are objectively right then everybody else is just wrong and they are either ignoramuses who are unwilling to be thought nor can be reasoned with, or they know the truth but are full of some malice and act against the truth anyway because of some selfish or dark reason. Both cases will logically lead into escalating violence against those who you disagree with, once you have crossed that bridge form subjectivity to objectivity. Even in things like democrats becoming the thing that many blamed the republicans were when they start to feel pressured.

            from Liberals

I.E. the people who think they can win in identity politics alone cause that seems progressive enough. Because they look down on everyone else they are all equal minorities in their eyes.

I think it’s useful to point out those afraid of voting for a woman are down on a level with those assholes.

Not discounting it that her gender had something to do with the result, but come on. As if she wasn’t also a genocide supporter, a political insider, held a high position in a government that oversaw a period with economic hardship for many people. Also she had an charisma of a house plant, likability of a piece of two by four and ran on a campaign that’s main message was “I’m not the the other guy”. But yes her being a black woman and people being misogynistic and racist was the main issue.

Not that I care, but nothing gets fixed if people hold these ridiculous analyses of why she lost. It will be the same mistakes done after every four years.

You obviously don’t understand economics nor how the US government works very well. Educate yourself before you get all high and mighty.

If you mean that the Trump also stands for those things like genocide, then sure. It still didn’t make Kamala any more likable.

I think you want to direct that at the people who voted for Trump, not the people pointing out why others voted for Trump.

Unfortunately you can’t expect the entire voting public to be aware and knowledgable about all this shit, and the candidates still need to appeal to those voters to win. Which plays a decent role in why Kamala lost.

Literally no u if you think these things have anything to do with who wins a presidential election. These matter after you win (I distinguish between economics as a science and the economy itself here); who wins a presidential election is determined by how people feel about each candidate and that has nothing to do with any of the two things you listed.

What an uncreative and semi-racist insult. These people abuse and oppress women and gays, marry children, run an authoritarian theocracy and you choose to make fun of them for living in a sandy environment?
