I just finished Outcast: A New Beginning yesterday, odd but nice AA exploration RPG-lite game which felt under the radar despite good presentation
I’m doing a 180° from sci-fi TPS with modern graphics and starting Victor Vran to scratch the fantasy/Torchlight itch
60 FPS, I can’t stand an unstable framerate, I prefer to lower quality/effects if I can’t get constant 60 FPS
Telltale managed to make a good story game about it though
I haven’t played Wonderlands yet, but the story/writing in B3 is abysmal
But… the gameplay is still an upgrade from B2 so I still enjoyed it
I’m not sure Gearbox can get back on track with the writing, so I hope B4 will bring some gameplay improvements, otherwise might as well replay B3
I guess there wil be a plethora of mods/reshades to alter the color palette on nexusmods
Personnaly I don’t like the grey/brown monochrome trend to make things look grim, but over-saturated isn’t my cup of tea for fantasy either
Except for TW3: Blood & Wine of course cause it made sense
Damn, Steam algorithm just spoiled it for you : Stellar Blade is part of the Sonicverse 🤫
I don’t get it, CDPR used Bioware engine for the first Witcher game and they had a lot of troubles.
Then they decided to make their own engine for TW2 and in 2011 it looked a lot better than Unreal Engine 3.
They went on with their Red Engine for TW3 and, great story/game aside, it looked and still looks incredible 10 years later.
Then finally Cyberpunk 2077, a broken launch, especially on consoles, but damn does it look good (I’ve yet to see better looking game), once again using their Red Engine.
Of course it must have been a lot of work, but when you’ve proven you can achieve it multiple times, I don’t see the point of going with Unreal. They didn’t even need to make a new version of Red Engine, the one from CP2077 was enough for games that will land in 2026.
Their guitarist used to play in a nazi black metal band and seems pretty unapologetic about it, so I’d say if they get hate, it’s just karma
I’d say mid too about Outer Worlds, but the first half is above average IMHO. It’s the second half which felt half baked and lowered my appreciation.
I’d prefer some developers set their mind on a good/great 20h experience if they don’t have the budget for more, instead of trying to align themselves with the big players.
