The madness is numbing.
It seems there are ways to stop crawlers. Do a web search for “stop ai crawlers” or similar to learn more. I hope it doesn’t escalate into an arms race, but I realise I might be disappointed.
Its both actual search and AI-features (which I’m unable to tell you more about right now as I merely skimmed through the description of the AI-features to verify that the search index will also serve plain, old, actual search).
Or an ice cream salesman
I’d advise against that last line 😅
It’s the strangest thing - it seems to work as expected today. Yesterday every time a new song started while I had Mlem open “played without sound”. Never mind this for now. If the issue comes back I’ll try different combinations of sound output and report back.
The seems to be an issue when I’m sending music to external speakers through airplay while using Mlem new songs are muted while the progress bar moves along on the song. If I skip back to the start of the song it plays ok. I’ve not noticed this behaviour while using other apps while using airplay. Does Mlem try to lay claim on sound playback or something?
Instant BSOD!
I have no idea what the scientific answer is, but try to see how long you can sustain a really low note in your own voice before you run out of air. Then see how long you can sustain a really high note before you run out of air.
They have become their own monster
I haven’t gotten around to using this feature yet, but I think it’s awesome that it exists.
I also hope that they’ll be able to grow their catalogue, but I must point out that I don’t find it to be poor - I just wish it was even bigger.
They also have other areas where I hope they improve, like catalogue organisation and even better discovery (or Discover tab), but over all I like them very much and I have faith they’ll become even better (with a bigger user base).
They also have their own standout features. I.e I’ve always wanted playlist search that searches artist AND song title AND album - Qobuz has that.
Qobuz (music streaming) is pretty sweet thus far.
Does this only affect digital reproductions?
The article seems focused on the digital angle, but I’m not sure.
Because it’s sometimes easy to reproduce someone’s else voice especially if you are a voice actor.
Is that widespread? My impression is that misrepresentation through fake likeness has exploded from AI generated deepfakes?
And what if you happen to have a voice almost identical to another person?
Then you have the right to your voice and they have the right to their voice. If neither uses the likeness for misrepresentation or other nefarious means then nothing will come of it. If either do there are probably already possibilities within current legal frameworks to prosecute.
It is hygge to read about Denmark doing good work in this area.
The proposal establishes legal definitions for unauthorized digital reproductions, specifically targeting “very realistic digital representation of a person, including their appearance and voice.”
Creative works such as parody and satirical content remain exempt from these restrictions.
Halfway to Barstow?
USB A plugs exists in a superposition until a) you try to plug it in 3 times with alternating orientations, or b) you observe the orientation.
The cat name is racist. Searching for “h.p. lovecraft cat name” will give you the precise answer, if you want it.
Lock in. They seem to worry that people are unhappy with them.
