I use Simple Calendar from Simple Mobile Tools.

I keep mine running 24/7 because it puts less thermal wear on the hardware. But I pay a flat rate for my electricity included in my rent, so it doesn’t cost any extra.

Yeah I would just stay clear of the chat. There’s plenty of normal people on the network, it’s just they don’t use the chat either. I’ve met some cool folks through DM’s though.
