  • I’m not saying people shouldn’t use AC but we should focus more on building homes to stay cool. Living spaces used to be designed with airflow in mind and windows were constructed to optimize capturing the breeze. Window tech has come a long way as far as heat rejection but awnings used to be everywhere. People focus too much on looks vs functionality and tbh modern houses are ugly as hell imo. AC should be used in tandem with all of the other things we’ve learned. I go to houses all the time that have the windows that don’t work or have been nailed closed with no ceiling fans and it blows my mind. I live in Texas so I get escaping to the north. We’re expecting some nasty weather so everyone is currently panic buying everything, I bet you miss that stuff lol

  • If only more people used redneck air conditioning. And I’m not kidding I’m going to school for HVAC cause I don’t want to starve in the street. Do y’all understand how bad this shit is?? It was supposed to be a medical device and y’all mofos set that shit to 65 to sleep. I’m not bougie and I understand that the 1% does most of the polluting but we need to change how we live

  • You didn’t touch a nerve you took a very complicated situation and boiled it down to this man must not be budgeting properly. The real issue at play was the last thing you mentioned. You addressed it but it was one sentence. I’m not saying budgeting isn’t important I’m saying you’re not focusing on the issue. Sorry I was a dick but you’re missing the point entirely.

  • Did you just link the meme? If that’s the case let me emphasize that it’s YOUR responsibility to educate your dad the world will not do it for you. You have the ability to do something about your dad and you cannot do anything about memes on the internet. Your energy responding to anything on Lemmy is wasted energy. You cannot convince someone not to meme but you might have the ability to change the mind of someone in your life. Good luck bud.

  • I understand your concern and understand what you’re saying. My dad voted for Trump in 2016 and I spent 4 years grinding to change his mind and educate him. He voted for Joe in 2020. It’s your responsibility to have difficult conversations with your dad and share your views. I’m not saying you can change his mind but you should be explaining to him what a meme is and how it’s not real life. You’ll be much more understanding and have a kinder touch than some rando that hears him sharing his views and doesn’t take kindly to them. I appreciate your eagerness to explain your reasoning but I would argue that energy would be better spent educating your dad rather than telling the internet not to meme.
