We DO have very explicit laws against it, they have just sat unenforced since the 80’s (except for a few brief years in the 2020s).

I don’t want to defend capitalism, but the bottom panel depicts activity that is technically very illegal in the US (but antritrust laws have not been enforced by the FTC since the 1980s, barring a few short years in 2020s under Lina Khan).
Capitalism definitionally requires competition, without it you have… something even worse.

Trump’s presidential memoranda argued that the National Guard deployment was necessary and defendable as these […] demonstrations “constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”
This bill creates a task force “The purpose of the task force shall be to detect, disrupt, and dismantle illicit marketplaces.”
Rick Moranis, I’m speaking directly to you because I know in my heart you are using Lemmy.
hi it’s me rick thank you for continuing to believe in me it’s children like you that keep the christmas magic alive
Not gonna jump on a Kickstarter but I like the idea behind this. Does anyone have experience with these automatic brake lights? They don’t seem like the best idea to me but I’m open to being convinced.
I say this as someone who generally liked all the new shows, but since the premiere of Disco in 2017 this whole era of Trek has felt unstable.
Again, I liked everything that was produced, but I also feel that these “premiere TV” styled, $5 million+ budget/episode series are clearly not sustainable business model for these shows that are also only on air a couple of weeks out of the year.
great vid!
Exactly, otherwise it’s just, well, scrolling.
meh
i bet it was bc of me
You totally made this from my recent comment didn’t you:
Right exactly. A “community” like /r/conservative can’t really exist on the Fediverse in the same way because it’s current function depends on outsiders to engage with.
I started off strongly disagreeing but you make a good point. I think I would honestly be “happy” to see something like /r/conservative move to a decentralized platform (though that might be a bad example because it’s purpose is more of a propoganda-spreader than a true “community”).
If we’re getting upset by canonical inconsistencies I have to wonder what bothers you about the Discovery Klingons specifically when I see no mention of the significantly more comprehensive “reimagining” of the TMP (or later the TNG) Klingons? Just seems like an odd place to draw the line.
It was two years…
I’m just saying, the term “capitalism”:
is defined by a number of basic constituent elements: private property, profit motive, capital accumulation, competitive markets, commodification, wage labor, and an emphasis on innovation and economic growth.
OP said that enshittification is “the MO of capitalism”, and that just definitionally doesn’t really make sense because enshittification (as defined by Cory Doctorow) happens not under capitalism, but what he calls “techno-feudalism”. Where you see monopolies existing and antitrust laws not being enforced, you are not seeing capitalism because you are not seeing a competitive market.
Just to be safe you may want to copy important files to a cloud storage AND usb drive before formatting the drive.
Also don’t overthink this and there is nothing wrong with Kubuntu, but Kinoite is going to be very similar and a little more resistant to n00b tinkering mistakes.
I said this elsewhere too, but the bottom panel depicts something other than capitalism, since capitalism definitionally requires a competitive market.
