English2·24 hours agoRight, it’s not just American and Russia that are bad, it’s the extremists in the middle east too! That’s why I say buying fossil fuels from another country isn’t the answer, electrification and green energy must be the way forward.

BoycottPro@lemm.eeto Europe@feddit.org•The European Union is under pressure to strike a trade deal with Trump, but an influx of mass-produced, low-quality food must be off the table. English2·1 day agoTrue, but far-right extremism is interconnected globally. Funny that people like Alex Jones talk about international conspiracies when the only real one is the way in which the far-right is coordinated and operate in lockstep. For example Trump has people from Hungary advising him and Trump and Republicans receive a lot of support from Russia. Musk endorsed the AfD and Reform UK. You stop one far-right party in your country or another country and you’re helping the fight against the global far-right which will help stop far-right parties in other countries.

English9·1 day agoNo matter what kind of trade deals the EU signs with the US, I feel strongly that the EU should work to divest away from fossil fuels as aggressively as possible. Do Europeans really want to be funding far-right extremism in Russia and America or do you want clean solar and wind energy?

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4869169-harris-campaign-site-policy-positions/
Article says:
The Harris campaign site’s section on the economy outlines proposals to cut taxes for middle class families; make rent more affordable and homeownership more attainable; grow small businesses and invest in entrepreneurs, among other sections. And, it ends with a contrast to “Trump’s Project 2025 agenda,” which it argues would “jack up prices.”
This contradicts:
No, but she’d continue to allow her golf buddies to price gouge you for everything from food, to electricity, to rent and stand idly by while you’re evicted and criminalized for being homeless.
BoycottPro@lemm.eeto Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Kamala Would Be Just As Bad As Trump325·2 days agoWould Harris be turning tariffs on and off randomly like a light-switch?
Would Harris be ordering ICE to deport innocent people?
Would Harris sign the so-called “big beautiful bill” tax cut to the wealthy?
Would Harris appoint horribly unqualified TV hosts to run our government?
Would Harris cut aid off to Ukraine and ambush Zelenskyy and other world leaders in the white house?
Would Harris be trying to end temporary protected status to people who may get killed if they go back to their home country?
Would Harris have her own meme coin that she uses to accept bribes?
BoycottPro@lemm.eeto politics @lemmy.world•Clyburn Endorses Cuomo, Helping Him Broaden His Appeal to Black Voters4·2 days agoI endorse Clyburn’s primary challenger.
I’m not accepting it, I’m doing what I can to change it, but it’s true that when voters feel apathy it benefits Republicans more. That’s why it’s important Democrats change to energize voters and reach out to more non-voters.
How Zohran Wins: show up to the primary if you’re a registered Democrat in NYC or vote early (early voting has already started). It’s very important you reach out to as many like-minded friends and family as you can and tell them to vote in the primary. When they fill out their ballot they should if at all possible put five names on the ballot but they should NOT put Cuomo’s name on the ballot at all, not even last. When it’s election time I’m loud as heck about it, I ask people if they need a ride. I’ve been thanked before because people who I thought would be guaranteed voters actually needed the reminder and said they wouldn’t have voted if it wasn’t for me. Please try doing likewise. Never assume someone is going to vote. Always ask if they will.
Filling out the ballot fully and excluding Cuomo’s name on the ballot is very important because he’s a sexual harasser and because he’d likely lose the general election. It’s going to be a tough general election because of Adams running as an independent. Cuomo and Adams are similar in a way so NYC needs someone who’s different. It’s basic marketing, kind of like product differentiation.
BoycottPro@lemm.eetoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Obama Will Start A War With Iran!English12·2 days agoEach rule we change fixes some of the rot. It’s like a journey. Think of it like walking from California to New York. It’s not something that happens in one day. People may tell you that you cannot do it, but you can. Those who put in the work will be rewarded. Passing an inheritance tax would be like successfully walking from California to Colorado. Not there yet but you made progress.
Except with politics it’s easier, instead of needing to do the whole walk ourselves we can each contribute a small amount of walking based on what’s within our means and that walking we contribute collectively adds up to the journey and together we can achieve the journey much easier.
I really hope the passenger or passengers are OK. Being stuck in a burning car has to be one of the worst ways to go.
This is why it’s so sick that Musk puts profits over safety. Elon Musk doesn’t care about the people who burn alive in his cars. If you drive a Tesla this could one day be your fate and you may not be able to escape. Teslas are designed to shut off power in a car accident yet they also use electric door handles. See the issue with that? They do have an emergency escape option but in an accident with all the adrenaline and emotion it may be hard to find them or use them. Certain Tesla models do not have an emergency escape option in the back. Please do not have passengers especially children in the back if your Tesla doesn’t have an emergency escape.
If for some reason you own a Tesla: please for your own safety regularly practice exiting the vehicle using the emergency escape. I do not want this to happen to you or anybody. Also I know a car is a very major purchase but if it’s well within your means or something you could afford without a big impact on your finances you may want to consider getting another car when you can.

I say mostly true because in 1941 they had “the strongest, most explicit and most widespread protest movement against any Nazi policy since the beginning of the Third Reich”. They were protesting against Aktion T4 which was a policy to kill many disabled children.
Imagine if the protests were stronger against the Nazi regime?

The Grayzone publishes questionable material, stating that a Chemical Attack did not occur in Douma, Syria OPCW investigator testifies at UN that no chemical attack took place in Douma, Syria. They have also promoted conspiracy theories, such as claiming that Pete Buttigieg is a CIA agent. There is no evidence to support this claim. Finally, according to Radio Free Asia, The Grayzone content is frequently shared by the Chinese Communist Party media outlets “CCP propaganda is also increasingly laundered through Western influencers and denialist fringe media outlets like The Grayzone,” the report said, adding that, between December 2019 and February 2021, The Grayzone was cited at least 313 times in Chinese state media.”
Finally, The Grayzone promotes conspiracy theories involving George Soros funding regime changes, and the editor Max Blumenthal claims that Bill Gates ran a Covid simulation before it occurred. This is false. In general, The Grayzone promotes a socialist left perspective that promotes conspiracy theories and pro-Russian/Chinese propaganda.
Falsely claiming that there were no chemical attacks in Syria is a hallmark of Russian propaganda.
Even if this article is correct I would avoid giving them your clicks because of their weird ties to Russia.

Have you voted yet in the primary (if eligible)?
For anyone reading this who’s a registered Democrat and lives in NYC it’s super import you vote in the primary by June 24. Urge as many like-minded friends and family to vote and offer them a ride or go on the bus with them if they need help with transportation. Even search things like NYC or New York City on social media and if you think they are like-minded urge them to vote.
Rank these names from #1 (best) to #5 (tolerable): Zohran Mamdani, Brad Lander, Adrienne Adams, Michael Blake, Zellnor Myrie
I’d recommend Zohran #1 and Brad #2. Zohran has a stellar ability to motivate volunteers. You really need those door knockers, they will help tip the scale in the general election. The general election is going to be difficult because Adams is running as an independent. If Cuomo wins, he and Adams will split the vote and hand the election to the Republican Curtis Sliwa. Zohran is fresh and gives voters someone to get excited about. He can crush the spoiler effect.
