Except Debs was a fringe candidate in prison for political speech and Trump is a major candidate convicted in a scheme of election fraud. Why is NBC normalizing felonious candidates with trivia that only relates to Trump’s case tenuously.
“I am opposing a social order in which it is possible for one man who does absolutely nothing that is useful to amass a fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars, while millions of men and women who work all the days of their lives secure barely enough for a wretched existence.” Eugene Debs
“You know what uranium is, right? It’s this thing called nuclear weapons.” President Drink Bleach
No wonder Debs got put behind bars
I knew of Eugene Debs. Eugene Debs was a hero of mine. Trump, you’re no Eugene Debs.
Debs was an incredible man. I live in the town where he lived, Terre Haute, Indiana. There’s not a lot of reasons to stop here if driving across the country on I-70, but if you do stop, I highly recommend visiting his former home next to the Indiana State University campus, which is now a museum dedicated to Debs. There’s a lot to learn about and it’s also a beautiful house with some gorgeous furniture.
Check out this table. I love it so much. Someone made this by hand.
Anyway, here’s the museum info: https://debsfoundation.org/index.php/landing/visit-the-museum/
Edit: My dad bought a replica of this campaign button when he visited, which he dearly loved. I must have it around somewhere now that he’s gone.
