I’ve been bouncing between shows lately, binged through a few or what was available anyway.

Recently it’s been more anime shows, but I binged through some live action stuff awhile back like Russian Doll, was also watching some of the original Quantum Leap for a minute, some Columbo, and dove into a select few old Outer Limits episodes.

What have been some of your recent binges and bounces?

Been really enjoying The Rookie. Mostly because of the stellar cast. The show awkwardly tries to be a cop show and navigate the cultural contempt of cops at the same time…and does a pretty good job considering how impossible that idea feels.

I’ve kinda run out, as both Taskmaster and Hacks finished their seasons today. I think The Acolyte starts soon though.

I’ll probably go back and rewatch Devs at some point, just because it was a bit surreal seeing how many of the cast were also in Civil War (Garland’s next project).

I always forget about Men too. Not Garland’s finest work.

I think even Garland would like us to forget ‘Men’ too. It was made during the pandemic, so I choose to blame that.

I have a few of my favorite sitcoms on constant repeat. New Girl and That 70s Show are the ones I’m watching at the moment.

As for non-sitcom series, I finally started Killing Eve a few weeks ago after hearing so many good things about it. Kinda sad I only have 5 episodes left. It’s been a really fun ride.

I’m also 3 episodes in on Shogun and may go ahead a binge the rest this weekend.

I recommend. 'Allo 'Allo or Married with Children for funnies and Tales from the Crypt for spookies. For family viewing: The (orginal) Addams Family, Taxi, Car 54 Where Are You? The Munster’s, The Simpson’s, or some flavor of Star Trek.

Well of you’re bringing “The Bust You Can Trust” into this, I suppose we have to include Britain’s Benny Hill and John Byner’s Bizarre.

        I always liked Bizarre’s T- shirt skits.

I’m on a combo binge. Recently I read an obituary for CJ Sansom, a writer of historical detective fiction. I’d never heard of him, but the books sounded good so I started reading them. Next thing I see there’s a TV series, Shardlake (Disney+), so now I’m watching that. Pretty well done, and the lead actor is great. (On to the third book in the series now.)

The Sci-Fi miniseries “The Lost Room”, I guess is technically a TV show? :D

“My Happy Marriage” is a wonderfully sweet Anime that I feel got passed by in terms of viewership.

“The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” was a pretty good (non anime) series too. – It’s a kind of hilarious take on scary movies and the tropes within them.

I see they’re competing with some Japanese shows for long, descriptive titles! Jokes aside, this sounds up my alley!

So, I started this thinking, there’s no way anybody is interested in what we’ve been watching, and then you said Columbo.

We’ve been playing In the Heat of the Night. It’s your typical detective show from the 80s, but with a touch of good ol southern racism. (The show is not racist, it calls it out)

Hah, yeah, I tried to mention a variety so people wouldn’t think any show was too old or too niche. I watch whatever manages to snag my interest in some way.

Some shows I check out simply from the sudden uptick in memes, which is how I found my way to Columbo.
