    Wiki:

Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo (EYD: Prabowo Subianto Joyohadikusumo, born 17 October 1951) is an Indonesian politician, businessman and former army lieutenant general, who is the President-elect of Indonesia since 2024.

Prabowo Subianto graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy in 1970 and mostly served in the Special Forces (Kopassus) until he was appointed to lead the Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) in 1998. That same year, he was dishonorably discharged from the military and subsequently banned from entering the United States because of alleged human rights violations. He has been described as a right-wing nationalist.

He made another unsuccessful run for the presidency in 2019 with Sandiaga Uno as his running mate and with the support of Gerindra, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party and Berkarya Party.[9][10] His refusal to accept the result saw his followers stage protests that sparked deadly riots in Jakarta.

And those are not even from the controversial section of his wiki.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto appeared poised to win Wednesday’s presidential election in a single round, according to unofficial tallies.

His rivals, Anies Baswedan, the former governor of Jakarta, and Ganjar Pranowo from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, had just under 23% and 17.3%, respectively, according to Kompas.

Independent pollster Indikator Politik showed that Gerindra Party’s Prabowo Subianto was in the lead with 59.77% votes, based on 23% of ballots counted.

Thunderstorms caused flooding in some parts of the capital, Jakarta, with Reuters news agency reporting that dozens of polling stations had been affected.

According to opinion polls ahead of the vote, the man leading the race is Prabowo Subianto from the Gerindra Party, a former military commander who currently serves as the Minister of Defense.

Such changes would have ramifications beyond Indonesia, as Jakarta wields a significant diplomatic influence among its Southeast Asian neighbors and boasts strong trade relationships with China and the US.
