Irate younger men would approach semi-regularly, especially after evening prayers, eyes burning, and tell us that George Bush is a dog. Yemen was severely punished by George Sr. for holding the position that Arab nations should not intervene in the business between Iraq and Kuwait during the first Gulf War and even more severely punished by Kuwait and her neighbors as thousands of working Yemenis were expelled without warning.

After spending a few years growing up in a major surf community any of us would have replied “ya bro totes agree, fuck all of the George Bushes”.

Most people in the surf and skate scene are definitely not into Right wing shitheads, yet somehow after Trump most of what used to be that surf community is MAGA AF, it’s sad and super shitty, but most of the surfers seem to have disappeared after Kelly Slater grew up and left the area to become the most well known surfer in the world, but the years catching waves with him and the others will always be cherished memories.

The same thing happened to Huntington Beach California. It used to be a chill little surf town. It was even called Surf City. Now it’s an over-commercialized conservative area full of trumpers and skinheads. I don’t understand how an area can change so drastically within a couple of decades.

It’s sad and these Nazi conservative assholes always seem to take over anything that initially rejects them, but it’s also not like poorer folks can afford to live in places like Huntington or Cocoa Beach, so instead they’re replaced by rich NIMBY conservative assholes.

Have the views on immigration changed so much in America as it has in Europe in the last 10 year or so? Because it could be that.

Also wealth moving to the beach and buying up houses.

I’m not sure how they’ve changed in Europe. I know France, and a couple other places are sick of the mass Muslim immigration. Is that what you’re talking about? Here in the USA it seems pretty polarized, just like everything else. 99% of the people I know don’t care about immigration at all, but I don’t really know any conservatives, and there are conservatives that think immigration is the source of every problem in the country. Well… I guess they think half the problems are from immigration, and the other half from Obama and Biden. HB definitely wasn’t conservative when I lived there, but it sure is now. It’s probably from the gentrification, like you said.

Yea pretty much. But it’s more africa, Middle East and Indian subcontinent. East Asians and Eastern Europeans can also be included but not generally or to the same level.

It just seemed in the last 10 years or so everyone was pro immigration and called everyone racist that wasn’t pro huge immigration. Well after huge immigration it seems everyone thinks its a bad idea. Problem is its cheap labour and the government’s don’t want to stop it for themselves or their mates in business.

I think a lot of that and sort of how crazy the left is, is turning people to the right. Wondered if that sort of mentality is the same in America.

It not so much people aren’t left leaning. It’s just immigration is a big issue and the left are very difficult to talk to on certain topics.

That’s a statement I can wholeheartedly agree with. The left has done more to turn me off to the left than the right could ever do. But it doesn’t push me right, because the right here in the USA is now pure insanity. It just pushes me out into the cold, feeling homeless, and without mainstream group to identify with.

The issues you pointed out with immigration are real issues, and they need to be dealt with. Plus having huge groups of people in a country that have no desire to integrate into that country’s culture can completely fragment and destroy a country’s identity and unity. Ignoring that as a problem is self destructive.

How crazy the Left is? Yes because the Left is so crazy with their acceptance of people and their crazy crusade for human rights and equality, tf is wrong with that? Or is the left so crazy because they want to see our basic human needs met through social programs? Real nutty that is. /s

Maybe you should consider that it’s the religious right who are the crazy ones trying to force us to fit their mold that is based on ancient books written by men that worship invisible beings, while also opposing human rights, equality, and the state social safety nets.

Or maybe it’s the wealthy right and centrists who are the crazy ones with their endless pursuit of selfishness and greed, and the corruption, poverty, and income inequality their greedy selfish pursuits generate.

You’re literally blaming the Left for the insanity of the Right, quite literally mass victim blaming, good job. 👍
