Why can’t I follow communities from this instance

I recently attempted to follow communties on this instance from mastodon and they all say pending. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it possibly related to the federation problems of 0.19?
I made a github issue but I’m not sure if the Devs will help or not since on one hand it’s not their software but on the other hand it seems like a federation issue. 🤷

Does it work for communities of other instances?

Then it’s not isolated to this one. I know that the confirmation of the follow is sometimes buggy. Do you see posts from those communities in your feed?

I honestly don’t know. You can try asking in the matrix channel

@db0 I think I’ll do that, just wondering, is there any indication of my follow requests on your end? I’m trying to follow the piracy community.

I don’t see any follows from your pawb.fun account or your mander account, but I see a follow on piracy from your dragonchat one. Also damn you have a lot of fediverse accounts >_<

@db0 So the dragonchat one went through, even though it says pending on the instance?

Also yeah I guess I do have a lot, I made most mainly due to federation problems but there were other reasons too (like when lemmy.world decided to go to war against piracy as well as other things). Ah well it’s good to have redundancy, in case systems fail or instances go bust (that happened to unilem, they just disappeared overnight without warning).

A lot of my subscriptions show as “pending”, but they appear in my feed just fine, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Probably a minor confirmation issue that will eventually get fixed, likely not helped by a lot of servers now running different versions of Lemmy.

Doesn’t seem to affect the federation of posts from these communities as far as I can see

@lemann I think these are very different issues on Mastodon than on Lemmy since on mastodon when its pending it isn’t just a visual glitch like on Lemmy, it’s just not letting you follow.

I’ve experienced what you’re describing on Lemmy where it shows as pending but does show up in the subscriptions list after a few refreshes. It unfortunately doesn’t seem to work out like that on Mastodon when following users or communities that are on Lemmy 0.19 instances.

@lemann I wonder if it might also be affecting Kbin users too. I’m not sure though since I ditched Kbin a long time ago (there were lots of bugs and shitty people on there).
