I have an Benq EX2510 (the older model from 2020) and I have a gtx 1660 super with an i5 10400f in my pc. The motherboard is MSI b460 m pro vdh wifi.
This the first time I’m experiencing an issue like this. The monitor loses signal and doesn’t even turn back on even on plugging the hdmi cable again. This has been Happening on every single boot for the last 2 weeks.
The monitor literally loses signal even when it’s at the bios logo screen or boot menu sometimes.
After it loses signal, the monitor will stay in that state for the next 30 minutes even if I power off the entire system and turn it back on. The monitor does recognizes different input connections although none of them gives any output.
I tried connecting a laptop to the monitor and it seemed to work fine. This leads to me think that something is up with my GPU.
So far I have tried -
- Different cables - 1 HDMI cable as well as 2 different DP cables but same result.
- Turning the monitor on after the computer has started.
- Powering off the monitor and turning it on again.
- Taking the GPU out of the PCI slot and placing it back in properly.
- Checked the PCI power connecter for any lose contacts. Also tried with a different PCI power connector.
What do you suggest I do next ?
Are the fans on the gpu turning when you power up? It almost sounds like a heat issue.
I just checked and the gpu fans stop spinning when the display loses signal. When I turn on the computer, initially the gpu functions normally.
OK that is an odd one… so we know it isn’t the monitor as you said it works fine with the laptop, so it seems to come down to either the gpu or your psu is getting weak. (power supply.)
Monitoring your temps with something like Speedfan ( https://almico.com/speedfan.php ) would ensure it’s not temperature related but it sounds like it may be more than that at this point. I’m not sure what else you could try other than swapping the gpu or psu out to see if that solves the issue. You could also try a different monitor just to be sure your monitor just doesn’t like your pc, but it doesn’t sound like that would be the problem.
I force restarted my PC when the gpu stopped the output, and the debug led for the GPU in my motherboard got lit up.
Since my gpu ran fine for the first few minutes (fans were running normally) could the problem be with the motherboard’s PCI slot perhaps ?
Possible but unlikely, unless the slot got damaged somehow or the card isn’t clipped in properly. Is there any way you can test a different card, or test that card in a different pc?
You need to try a different display if you can. You’ve already ruled out the cable, so try the computer with your TV if you can, and see if it works. If it does work, try the cables that you’ve already tested too. If they work with the computer and the TV, then you know that the monitor is faulty and can go from there.
