What’s the source, and why didn’t they announce this themselves on their blog like usual ?
Its posted on the System 76 twitter. They have a link to the post in the article.
Twitter ? 😭
Cool. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.
Interesting. I’m not that knowledgeable about Linux desktop environments (despite running popos on my desktop and mint on an old laptop). I feel like gnome has a lot of tweaks and widget-y things. Is that kind of ecosystem going to crop up here? I didn’t tweak much- just turned off edge tiling and added a big date/time widget to the desktop.
Also what’s the upgrade path going to look like? I just installed with the defaults so /home isn’t on its own partition.
From what I understand, cosmic already has quite an ecosystem of extensions. It’s been around for several years, alpha, or no.
Please have the ability to swap between audio devices on the same sound card. This was my only major holdback last time I trialled cosmic
tried cosmic a while back, absolutely loved the way it looked and could be customized but gestures didnt work/wasnt implemented yet (?) so it was a pain to switch to using keyboard shortcuts again. if the beta includes the gestures features id love to give it a try again
Nice! Can’t wait to finally give it a try.
Just installed the alpha it is good, working so far. Looks cool for sure.
