[D]espite the anti-immigration rhetoric allegedly being a response to the housing crisis, immigration is not one of the top ten causes of the housing shortage either.

[A]mong the red ensigns and Nazi regalia, there was not one protest sign about the housing crisis. The racist chanting and violence against people of colour was not a protest about the cost-of-living crisis. It was just racism and it was racism that tended towards the exclusionist idea of a White Australia.

Freaking pathetic. Sad, angry and stupid people once again being told to blame all their problems on a minority/outsiders without questioning the people telling them to do so.

Most people on that march won’t really care about the housing issues. If there was no housing shortage they’d find something else. They want an excuse to hate migrants.

The racist idiots are shutting down any real discourse around immigration, which is higher than it needs to be by around 20-30% and results in suppressed wages, reduction in housing availability and stress on public infrastructure like hospitals.

You won’t get a good conversation on any of these topics until the racists crawl back to their holes.

Continuing the historically high levels of immigration gives the Nazis a wedge issue they can use to convince more morons to sign up.

Labor can address the issue or we will continue to see Nazi rallies.

Labor will continue the immigration rates because it makes it look like we have higher GDP growth than we really do. A little trick they learnt from Howard.

Also the author throwing this out

The private rental market is a nightmare for renters. Tenants are facing skyrocketing rents and no-grounds evictions are all too common. Landlords are one of the major causes of homelessness and the housing crisis.

While ignoring that increased demand (and interest rates) leads to increased prices???
