If people come to Winnipeg, I usually recommend the Winnipeg-unique foods: the Winnipeg style light fluffy Rye bread; honey dill sauce with chicken fingers; etc.

In Winnipeg, there’s a chain called Salisbury House which isn’t particularly good, but it pretty much only exists in this market and is “locally famous”. This is the sort of thing I’m looking for :)
