Yes, it will be more difficult due to exclusive streams: https://apnews.com/article/how-to-watch-nfl-streaming-1784047265cfe5c32adfb054d5ad970e

TBH, I’m not sure what Hulu with Live TV gets you beyond what’s already available on YouTube Sunday Ticket. Sadly, YT ST is the best way to legally watch the most games. I split that with some friends and then pirate the Peacock-only, etc. games if I really care about them.

If YT TV ever kills family accounts, I’ll just go antenna/OTA+🏴‍☠️ for everything, because I’m not fucking rich.

It sounds like YT ST is for games that are not in your local area?

Local channels like your local FOX, CBS, and NBC affiliates are not included in NFL Sunday Ticket, nor are national channels like ESPN. However, these are available with the YouTube TV Base Plan.

So for SNF, MNF i’d still need tv access and well I’m so rural that I can’t pick up OTA reliably. This is where I would need TV services and Hulu makes the most sense for my home.

others in my house aren’t the type to figure out how to check the high seas for streams.

Ah, that’s right. I didn’t know that getting YT ST without the YTtv base plan. For sure plenty of games are always on the base plan (or ORS, or Hulu Live TV, etc.).

        It’s a racket, man.

Yes, and it’s going to continue to be enshittified because people are willing to pay for it.

I’ve always used some variant of First Row Sports when there’s a game on I don’t want to pay extra for, but make sure your ad-blocker is up to date before using it.

I basically was able to get my fill by watching the local games OTA and the Thursday prime games via twitch tv (broadcast by Amazon for free) and then Sunday Night on NBC (and ABC carried a huge amount of Monday Night games last season) I purchased NFL+ on thanksgiving to watch the end of season games that were on NFL network. I just missed out on the peacock/netflix/paramount games last year and will again this year.

I spent $10 total to watch NFL games last year and that’s all I will ever spend

Yeah, in the past I paid for Paramount+ for 2 NFL games a week (plus Star Trek Lower Decks would air at the same time). It was honestly a pretty good deal. But now I get that with Walmart+. So I get all the weekly games either OTA or with subscriptions I already have and I’m okay with missing out on the Netflix game.

The worst part is that my team isn’t close to where I live. So I don’t get them very often. But that has nothing to do with the piecemeal service. I would have to either get Sunday Ticket or go to a sports bar to see them. If I rooted for a local-ish team, I’d get to see them every week.

OTA works until the broadcasters move to the new broadcast standard (ATSC 3.0) and encrypt their streams. It locks out most digital boxes. In my area only NBC hasn’t added DRM to their broadcast.

Only the digital boxes with a direct HDMI connection to a TV are allowed decryption keys at this point. This means if you want to watch on multiple TVs, you need an expensive box and antenna for each TV.

It’s a shitty situation and I’m sailing this seas this year for my fucking local channels.

Other than a couple of one-offs like Netflix having a game or two like last year or Peacock having one Playoff game like last year, is there anything that has gotten more difficult?

I’ve seen a couple places where there are more options. But for the most part it’s just as pieced off as before. Am I missing something?

Amazon Prime, CBS, Fox, NBC, and ESPN. Anything new I’m missing?
