Catholic priests in Washington cannot be required to report child abuse or neglect they learn of in confession, a federal judge ruled Friday.

Of course the implications are deeper than this. No kind of abuse of man, woman, or minor by any member of any religion, sect, or denomination will be mandated reportable.

What are your thoughts on this?

      I wholly agree. The Church needs to step up and stop pretending there is anything Godly about any abuse of any person (reactive abuse is a desperate attempt at self-defense, so I don’t lump that in, although it should probably be addressed with a therapist, at some point).

          I note that Jesus did the bulk of his teaching outside of the temple. And I largely avoid church gatherings, but that’s largely because I don’t have transportation to go where I want to go.
