These papers and the people who write them truly are insane. I had the English version of the paper through my door the other week and you would think it’s satire It’s so ridiculous.

These far-right loony circle-jerks would be fascinating if they weren’t so troubling.

Or at least turn their attention to the real conspiracies. They’re positive that there’s 5G tracking chips in the COVID Vaccines, but it’s lunacy to think that Trump stole classified documents and tried to overthrow the US Government.

leftist conspiracy theories: the tonkin gulf incident was a setup, declassified documnets show so

right wing conspiracy theories: the gay satanist democrats are extracting fictional drug from abducted kids, in basement of this pizzeria, which has no basement. i know this from the most reliable source of all: mystic readings of 4chan

that’s a part of the problem

reality is boring. it’s the boring shit that gets things done; while there are some exceptional people you should never meet your heroes. wouldn’t it be cool if instead you knew something that no one else does?

that “secret knowledge” is a part that allows conspiracy theory believers feel superior to non-believers. this is easier if believer is otherwise unremarkable or even miserable, stuck in some hole with no future, is a loner, can’t move and so on. it also helps if they are gullible and or can’t verify information they receive. if you have an hour to waste, watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTfhYyTuT44

I know, I was pointing out that it sounds like a total fantasy. I actually don’t believe people actually believe all that stuff, but it’s up there in yankeeland so what do I know.

I understand why conspirancy theories are popular, it is fun to me to think about them. But I don’t believe and the few interactions I had with conspiracy theorists online make me think they are all hard trolling or insane.

if they allotted their limited time and attention carefully, they wouldn’t believe in conspiracy theories. i do think that true believers need professional help, 9/10 of cases

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A grieving mother and her lawyer have been targeted by an extreme campaign of abuse after suing a conspiracy theory newspaper which falsely claimed her son died from a Covid vaccine.

The campaign of abuse following her legal case has been “nothing short of shocking” and may explain why other relatives have not taken action, Ms Campbell’s solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, told BBC Radio 4’s Marianna in Conspiracyland podcast.

In frequent social media posts over several weeks, the Irish Light and its editor, Gemma O’Doherty, have accused Ms Campbell of “outrageous lies”, being “mentally unstable” and involved in a “massive fraud”.

He told the BBC the legal proceedings were launched after various attempts to ask Gemma O’Doherty to remove the images of Diego Gilsenan failed and resulted in an escalation in online abuse.

In July, the High Court in Dublin granted a restraining order that prohibits the Irish Light editor from contacting Ms Campbell and from using or publishing the image of her son for any purpose without his mother’s consent.

Manchester Arena bomb survivors are suing over claims the attack was faked and parents of Sandy Hook mass shooting victims won a landmark ruling against Infowars host Alex Jones.

I really wonder at what point can people like O’Doherty be declared clinically insane? They clearly struggle with the concept of reality, and they actively testify to that in writing.
