If that’s the case, the child safety check would discover that and no harm would be done. Maybe there should just be periodic child safety checks for all parents anyway, like Ofsted.

Please don’t do this unless you really think there is abuse or the baby/child is being harmed. The case load for the understaffed departments is insane and a waste of their time and resources.

In my experience child protection services are useless. Call the parent ‘Oh, you’re not harming your child? Ok then, no need to visit you.’

Please don’t ever call DCFS unless you have a legitimate reason believe the child is being harmed. Like half the parents I know with 2+ kids had at least one that was an inconsolable infant. Some babies just cry a lot.

If it’s annoying to you you, just imagine being the parents whose responsibility it is to care for an infant who just won’t stop crying. You’d have worse sleep deprivation AND the guilt of feeling like a failure!

In the US, we don’t have healthy institutions that can do that. They’re all corrupted by racism, lack of funding, lack of accountability, and insane religious people.

Maybe the post wasn’t in the US, but also other places may have similar problems.
