You can embed audio files using the same syntax for embedding images. At least for Lemmy UI.
EDIT: Yeah, it’s not working from Piefed. But looks fine in Lemmy.
Trying it out:
No sound in Piefed.
I missed the part about wanting it to autoplay. Yeah, NO ONE is going to add that feature any time soon lol

Can I at least use the <blink> and <marquee> tags?
Viewing above in Lemmy (Alexandrite), still no sound, although a small plus symbol appears when I hover over “orion”.
Yeah, I think most clients do not support it. Lemmy UI definitely does (https://feddit.org/post/13965608/7155019). Tesseract (https://t.feddit.org/post/feddit.org/13965608?thread=0.7155019) supports embedded MP3, but apparently not WAV.
