Denmark is set to have the highest retirement age in Europe after its parliament adopted a law raising it to 70 by 2040.
The retirement age at 70 will apply to all people born after 31 December 1970.
Denmark attached retirement age to life expectancy. This makes economic sense but it’s really cruel. We’re not getting healthier. Our healthspan seems to be going down, so we live longer in illness.
Old people’s health care is good business as there is essentially endless demand.
It’s 67 in Germany, up from 65 recently. Meanwhile, life expectation continues to fall.
That’s the beauty of it… We are here to ensure that boomers live their best lives.
This class war has a heavy generational tint to it.
the enlightened Nordic socialist model in action everybody
Unfortunately going to be similar situations everywhere the economic model requires contribution to function, as median ages climb less people are net contributors.
It’s kind of just kicking capitalisms collapse can down the road
